The door was closed as she came to a skidding halt. Her hand grasped the metal handle and pulled up releasing the latch. Her nose was the first thing assaulted by the overwhelming stench of bleach, the room must have recently been cleaned she thought but upon further inspection, Addie was nowhere and a man stood with his back to Hawk, standing over Caanan.

"He looks so peaceful, don't you agree my dear?" Lincoln's voice sent shivers down her spine as she moved closer and closing the door. Caanan lay still in the bed; the dim yellow light above him illuminated and threw shadows across his face. The ET tube was fixed into place with a holder with the Velcro straps tightened on both sides of his cheeks. Lincoln stood over Caanan like a God, in which her first thought was of Loki. His hands folded and held together in front of him, head cocked to the side.

"Linc, please don't hurt him." Hawk whispered trying to draw his gaze. Her eyes over flowed with tears as his eyes fixed onto her.

"Dear sister, I have no intentions of hurting him. I could never cause you that sort of pain." He spoke drawing in the few steps that held the gap between them.

"What is it that you want then? If it be my end, that get on with it. I am wary and just grow tired of being in your shadow and hatred." Her words strong as the tears fell gently across her cheeks as she looked from Linc to Caanan.

"Why is it you think I would kill you? Do you really think me such a monster I would kill my own sister?" He spoke as the door opened.

"Sadie? Who is that?" Addie asked as Linc kissed her forehead and disappeared from the room.

Hawk's breath caught as she fought to take in air to her lungs. Her legs could barely hold her up as she faltered and fell into Addie.

She helped Hawk into the chair next to Caanan as she gasped, "Sadie."

Silent moments passed, Hawk not being able to take her eyes from the man she loved beyond her own life and the danger and shit storm she just brought on top of him.

"Before I met Caanan, I was a part of an op that changed everything about me. I infiltrated a group of bad people. I did things no human should ever do to gain the trust of their leader. The man that was just in here. I lost my soul and my humanity but gained that which was meant to take him down and put him away in a hole that no one would ever dare to look again. Lincoln Trainor is the man that I took down before I met Caanan. My brother took away my soul and now is free."

"Leave," Addie stood as her jaw hardened taking a few steps away from the monster she saw before her, "you are death. And you cannot be around my brother."

"Lincoln now knows about Caanan and how I feel about him, if he sees fit, he will use that against me if it keeps him out of prison. I am the only person that can protect him." Hawk whispered standing defensively as Riley and Max appeared in the doorway. She stood going to them and into the hallway.

' "We saw him leave but didn't engage." Riley said looking down the hallway.

"It is for the best..." Hawk spoke as she heard the door close behind her.

"What's her problem?" Max asked and drawing Hawk's gaze to his eyes.

"She thinks it's too dangerous for Caanan for me to be around. But we all know if Lincoln could find him, then he will always will and if I do something wrong, he will kill him. I could give myself over to Lincoln and save Caanan." Hawk answered realizing that it truly was the only way to keep Caanan safe from harm.

"You know Dace won't allow you to do that." Riley spoke up as him and Max exchanged glances.

"Caanan is in danger because of me. I have to what I can to save him. You two stay here and watch out for them. Please, just give me an hour head start and then you can call Dace. Just let me do this my way." Hawk pleaded.

Again the guys exchanged glances and nodded, "one hour." It was all she had to hear as she pushed open Caanan's door. Her goodbye was something she never wanted to do but she asked for Addie to give her some time with him. She kissed Caanan and apologized for bringing this carnage on top of him. She promised if she survived this, she would come back and give up the life and just be with him. She promised him the life she had dreamed for them. She left her message with Addie but knew the chances she would relay it were slim seeing as she now saw Hawk as the Angel of Death.

Her steps echoed to the elevator knowing the moment the doors closed, her time was up. The guys wouldn't give her an hour, she would have to sneak out of the hospital and find Lincoln quickly.

The moment the elevators opened a floor above the open lobby she prepared herself to be grabbed. But it was quiet and still, nothing out of the ordinary except Lincoln standing in the gift shop. Her steps were cautious as she entered and two of his men nodded to her. "Are daisies too girly?"

"You're asking me? Lincoln when have you ever known me to know flowers?" Hawk said as she took a spot beside him.

"You're right, silly me. Well I take it you are willingly coming with me to save the hunk upstairs am I correct?" He asked taking only one flower and handing the girl behind the counter a twenty.

"Dace most likely has already been called so I don't see how we will be getting out of here alive."

"Oh dear sister there is always a way." He smiled as we left the gift shop and headed towards the front doors. He took my arm as we went out the main entrance and right to the waiting SUV. We drove from the hospital without incident.

"So what are you going to do with me? If I am going to die, please just do it, let me be with mom and dad and wait for the day to be reunited with Caanan." Hawk spoke.

"Why do you think I would kill you? What would I gain from that? I just need your help with one teeny tiny op and then you are free to be with hunky heart throb. He has a really nice voice by the way."

"I put you into prison." She answered.

"Yes, but I escaped. Easier than I would of expected actually." Lincoln lightly chuckled. "But that is beside the point—this is the target." He handed her the manila folder.

Her jaw tightened when the words on the pages within finally sunk in. "How? Jaime is dead."

"Oh, but he isn't. Our dear brother is still alive and well on a tiny ass island off the coast of Greece. He killed them you know. They were in his car when the brakes failed because someone else wanted him dead. He got away and they died. Did you know that? No, you were deployed and I didn't want you to seek vengeance. I wanted so badly to keep you from this life little sister." Lincoln spoke and for the first time, Hawk believed him. He was as close to their parents as she was and Jaime was jealous of that.

"So then you want me to kill him?" She asked.

"No, I want you to toy with him, mess with his head because I want the pleasure of killing him. I will be in prison before long; I want to keep that blood off your hands." He explained.

"You really think it will be that easy? Dace probably knows my location and is going to pick us up as soon as we get on whatever plane it is to take us to Greece."

"Wewill get to Greece fine and the sooner this is done the sooner you will getback to Caanan. I do wish you the best with him." He smiled. Hawk remainedsilent from that point. She knew not to trust Lincoln but now with a commonenemy before them, she really had no choice. Jaime was the one thing that couldbring their little broken family back together when she wanted nothing to dowith it.
