"When was the last sedative given?" She questioned, taking in the sight of him. She knew it had been only less than a week, but for her it felt like a life time. She just wanted to wrap her arms around him—after everything they had been through, she needed his touch; to know everything was finally okay.

"A while ago actually. He should be getting agitated soon." Addie spoke letting Sadie into the room taking the left side opposite of her. In the moments of sitting down the movement of his hand caused Sadie to take it in hers, gently resting it against her cheek. Her lips gently brushed his skin and he made a grimacing twitch.

"Ew, Addie, don't kiss me." He groaned but not taking his hand back. Sadie just sat still, unmoving and watched Caanan's face. The way his cheeks lifted, that he crinkled his nose at his sister who he thought was in her seat.

"That wasn't me." Addie smiled as Caanan opened his eyes realizing her voice came from behind him. It took him a moment to register what was before him but as he did, he yanked her arm hard pulling her into him and into his embrace.

"Thank God you're safe." He whispered into her hair and she managed to keep her weight off of him and breathed in his scent. It was the same as the shirt she still had tucked into her bag. She needed a shower but Caanan didn't seem to mind.

"You knew I would always come back to you." She whispered as she pulled away to look at him; he was still hooked up to most of the machines. But to her, he looked as he did before. In his favorite bar doing the thing he loved the most.

He took her face in his massive hand, gently this time pulling her to him. Their lips touched for the first time and everything was right in Sadie's world if only for that moment.

"So is it over?" Addie asked ruining the moment.

"Yes, it's over. He will disappear now from my life." She whispered answering; she hated how things ended up. Lincoln was still her brother and deep down she wanted him in her life. He deserved to still have a family. He just made everything right in the way of justice for their parents.

"What about working for Dace, are you through with that?" Addie asked another question.

"Adalyn. Shut up. It's her job; she isn't just going to stop." Caanan's voice sounded before hers could. He snapped at her and glared like he was protecting Sadie from her which just made a small smile flash across her face.

"No, she's completely right. I need to end my contract and start thinking about the life I want with you instead of thinking it's just me by myself anymore." Sadie spoke as Dace appeared out of nowhere.

"I ended your contract when you left to come back down here. I knew you wouldn't be coming back. Caanan is your soulmate, any fool can see that." Dace explained and smiled to Sadie's utter confusion. "You are always welcome to take the small jobs of course. But you will no longer be on retainer, just an independent contractor." Dace further added, she knew Sadie couldn't just leave them behind.

"I have no idea what to say... This is what I never thought was possible." Sadie looked to Caanan and just had all the hurt and all of the feeling of being lost washed away.

Itwas truly over then. The life she had known for so long was coming to a close. She would soon have to find a real blue collar job and not be the person shewas. The Hawk chapter of her life was over or at least taking the back seat toher life with Caanan. And that is what scared her most than anything. She couldface any threat thrown at her but could she really be Sadie again?
