They parked close to the street inside the parking ramp so that the lobby was closer. They walked into the building as the eyes of the frantic nurse rested upon them and she hurried their direction.

"Sadie, Addie; thank God I found you two. Caanan's surgery is still going. Dr. Calder wants to make sure he catches everything before moving him into the ICU. Sit tight, it shouldn't be much longer." She informed them as Dr. Calder came up from behind like a ghost.

"Good you're both here." He said.

"How is he?" Addie spoke before Hawk could. Her mouth became instantly dry, like she just tried to eat a handful of cotton.

"The surgery went as well as could have been. He pulled through fine and didn't give any problems while on the table." He explained. "Due to regulations, I'm sorry Sadie but Addie is the only one allowed to see him right now. He's still unconscious at this time and could quite possibly remain that way even after we move him to a regular room."

Hawk's jaw tightened, "its fine, I should call into work anyways. Just go to him, if he does wake up, he should see a familiar face."

Addie's eyes pried on the cover that Hawk tried so hard to keep tightly down. She nodded to Hawk and followed the nurse off to the elevators. Hawk watched as they all walked their separate directions. She looked to her bag and pulled out her phone and dialed the firms' number.

"Hawk? I wasn't expecting to hear from you in a few days." The other voice on the end of the line that belonged to Dace said.

"Hey. I got nothing better to do except wait for the okay to go see Caanan." She answered.

"What's wrong with Nashville?" She asked using the code name we had for him.

"Almost died in front of my eyes; he has a heart condition and a faulty valve..." Her voice squeaked hearing Dace's breath catch in her throat. It made it all to real saying it out loud and for her, it was hit that pierced too close to home for her and she wanted to run.

"Oh my god; I am so sorry." Dace whispered as Hawk tried to say it was okay. She held her breath for a moment waiting for the urge to cry to pass.

"Is there anything new happening there?" Hawk asked trying to change the subject.

"Well..." Dace stopped and Hawk knew there was something.

"What is it?" She asked hoping for any way to pull her mind from where she was to something that she was good at.

"Lincoln Trainer; Hawk he escaped custody last night. He left a message saying he was coming for you." Dace explained as Hawk just wanted to scream. It took three years for Hawk to get a strong enough lead to take Lincoln down. She became so deep undercover in the op that when she came back out the other side, she wasn't the same. Her spirit had been broken under the weight of what she had to do to gain Lincoln's trust. It was Caanan that gave her a little of it back when she ended up in that bar on the night months ago just trying to clear her head.

"Please tell me Aston is on this already and Lincoln doesn't know where I am." She spoke into the cell phone receiver and looked around cautiously.

"Aston and Harter are both on it and we don't know where he is headed, but if you want to keep Caanan safe, we both know what you need to do." Dace answered knowing all too well it was already in Hawk's mind.

"I can't leave him... Not if he's going to die. Then I would embrace Lincoln killing me." She spoke somberly.

"I'm sending people to you then. No way am I going to let something happen to you." Dace answered and hung up. Hawk knew there would be enough fire power in and near that hospital within the hour. Dace wasn't the kind to let her people get hurt or those that they cared about.

Hawk stayed with her back to the wall in order to watch all that was happening. She wasn't going to let herself be caught off guard and she wasn't going to let a threat get past her and to Caanan. It was a nurse that caught her gaze after about an hour of her sitting there waiting and watching. She walked up to her with a purpose.

"Calder pulled strings. This will basically admit you into Caanan's room being you're not family." She spoke handing her the doctors' key card.

"Why would he go to such lengths?" Hawk asked.

"Because he lost his wife to the same condition not too long ago and he wasn't with her when she passed. He is a brilliant surgeon but if Caanan dies, he doesn't want you to feel the same pain he did." She said holding out her hand showing her to the elevator. "It's the fifth floor room 5045." She said as the doors closed.

The ride was silent even the elevator barelymade noise. As the doors opened and she made her way out, something didn't feelright. Her senses consumed her and she didn't see the man she almost collidedwith. "Oh, sorry, excuse me." Her words were light but were left unanswered asshe realized why. It was one of Lincoln's men. He kept moving not looking backat her as she took off in a dead run to Caanan.
