I was haunted by the faces of all f the tributes in my mind.
Sleeping was hard enough to do when you were burning up, but when you were constantly having nightmares?!
Finnick had been sleeping with me and the nightmares had calmed down a bit but they never truly stopped.
He had tried everything he knew how---Mags too!
I felt terrible for keeping him up and hoped that the dreams of such horrible things would come to an end soon.
So, as I laid in bed with him that night, he stared at me and I stared back at him, wondering who would fall asleep first.
"I know how you were tortured in that arena." He says lifting a hand to carress my cheek.
I continue to gaze into his eyes.
"Let me help you." He says.
"I don't want to trouble you. You went through this once and I don't want you to go through it----"
"I'd go through it all all over again if it meant that you could live peacefully." He interrupts.
"Finnick, I---"
"Feather, I want to help you, please let me. It's all I ask." He says, interrupting again.
I sigh. "Fine."
"Thank you." He says. "Now, tell me."
"It's their faces....Everywhere--Everytime! I can't get rid of the look on their faces or the way they died or anything. Then I think about me.....How I made it out of that nightmare alive.....But in the end, I see them coming back for me." I say.
He pulls me close to him. "I wish I could say that it gets easier, but it doesn't, you just learn to be strong."
I snuggle into him, sighing. "I was afraid of that."
"But, that doesn't mean you have to go through it alone." He says. "I'll be by your side, day and night, never leaving you alone when you're feeling like this."
I look into his eyes. "Thank you Finnick."
He smiles. "No problem, my love."
I blushed slightly and he started kissing me.
I was happy, I was safe and now I had to deal with these battle scars.
I knew they would always stay with me, but I had to get them under control before I let them destoy me....
