On the evening of the 2nd May 2049 something changed in Sonny's and Markus relationship and the car journey back to their home was silent in the back seat, yet unnoticed because of the chatter between Michelle and Wallace's mum.
When they got home, Michelle assisted Markus with getting ready for bed. Sonny changed into his pajamas and stayed in his room. For the first time that he could remember he was angry with his brother. If he was truthful with himself his anger towards his brother had initiated a week earlier, when Craig, the boys father, had decided that he would spend some time with both sons. Up to then Sonny had his father exclusively.
In the other bedroom, Marin argued with Kurin about why their brother had been quite cold towards them. Marin believed that Sonny had hurt himself playing outside, Kurin thought he was sulking because he hadn't won any of the games they played. They resolved the argument by deciding to go and speak to their brother and best friend.
Markus ignored Sonny when he told him to go away. Instead he sat on Sonny's bed and asked him what was wrong.Marin and Kusin didn't expect the reply they got. Sonny explained in an aggressive and a raised voice how much he liked Rose and wanted to be her boyfriend and that he had seen her kiss them. His sentences were jumbled and confused and as much as his explanations made perfect sense to him, they failed to register with his two headed brother. What did register were two statements made that Sonny would later regret "I hate you", "I wish you would hurry up and die".
Michelle had entered Sonny's room, after hearing the argument and initially thinking it was Marin and Kusin arguing again, had gone to the wrong room. She arrived as Sonny shouted his last statement.
Michelle ushered Markus to bed and spoke to Sonny calming him down.
The next morning Michelle found Markus dead in his bed. Markus had died suddenly.
