Lost

The hardest part of finding your way
Is getting lost and then
Climbing your way out of
The dark pit you got left in.
You surround yourself with people
Who are meant to pull you out
But what happens when they
Disappear completely?
The misfortune of those
Who become so lost that they give up
Is one I am facing myself
But the confusion of this is overpowering.

I feel as though I'm circling,
I'm veering,
Around bends in a long road
That I'm going to drive off of.
The tablets don't work anymore,
The alcohol only numbs the pain,
And these slight imperfections
Push everyone away.
What am I to do
When all that I'm left with are
My thoughts, my delusions,
My pain?

I'm skipping meals.
I'm going to bed and then
Waking up nearly a day later.
I'm drinking nearly every day.
My old thoughts and fears have
Crept slowly back into my heart
Making my body ache
And my mind crumble.
I'm left on my bedroom floor
Crying into an old pillow
Sodden with repetitive agony
Trying to find a way to climb out of this pit.
