Kate, Sam, and Dean finished their late night snacks in mostly silence. Sam and Dean would occasionally ask a question or two and Kate would try to change the subject. It was 8:00 by the time that they had finished and the waitress was asking them to leave. Dean left a heavy tip for letting them stay so late and thanked the waitress on the way out. The three siblings crossed the parking lot to the 1967 impala. Sam gave Kate an anxious look as if worried that she would take his seat again. He quickly approached the car to secure his spot in the front seat.

"You coming?" Dean asked. He had noticed that Kate had stopped at the front of the car.

"Nah, I'll just meet you guys wherever you're heading." She replied. Dean and Sam had a shared puzzled look on their faces.

"And how do you plan on getting there?"

"I'll fly." Kate's words hung in the air. Noticing her brothers' skeptical looks, Kate began to explain. "I'm an angel... You know I can fly." Sam and Dean were still clueless. Kate let out an exasperated sigh. She crossed her left arm over her right and began stretching, pushing her arm as close to her other shoulder as it would go. "You'll just have to see." Kate said, switching arms.

"Sorry if I don't understand Kate," Sam interjected. "but what do you mean fly?"

Without saying a word, Kate thrust her shoulders back with as much force as possible. With a loud WHOOSH a pair of wings sprouted from her shoulder blades. Dean stumbled back at the sight of the jet black wings emerging from his sister. Kate smiled as she raised her arms and her wings above her head in a stretch. They must have been at least 6 feet each with midnight black feathers.

"What the hell?" Sam and Dean said in unison.

Kate lowered her arms and wings and shook them to get rid of the tension in her shoulders. "What? You've never seen an angel's wings?" She asked.

Dean cautiously approached his sister as one would approach a dangerous bird. "May I?" Kate nodded. She extended her wing closer to Dean who gently touched it. He ran his fingers down the dark feathers. They were smooth and sleek. Sam slowly approached Kate's opposite wing, admiring each and every aspect of them.

"Has Castiel never shown you his wings?" Kate asked.

"My wings are of more cosmic power," Cass interrupted. "their senses are too dull to perceive them." Sam and Dean jumped at Cass' voice, he had materialized directly in front of the impala. "The only reason they can see your wings is because you are in fact half mortal."

"Wait, are you saying that Kate," Dean turned to Kate. "You're not using a vessel?" he asked.

Kate shook her head, "Nope, this is all me. I can maintain the same form up there and down here."

Sam nodded, still baffled by the wings. "And uh, you can actually use those?"

A wide smile materialized across Kate's freckle dotted face. She nodded in response. "You wanna see?"

Sam and Dean nodded and each took a step back to give their sister the room she needed. As Kate bent her knees she braced herself for the jump into flight. Her jet black wings raised high above her head. Breathing in deeply she jumped, her wings smacked the ground launching her approximately 80 feet in the air. Kate felt the wind rush into her greedy lungs as she soared high into the night sky. Her blonde hair whipped in the air on her back.

Kate soared in the star painted sky gracefully adjusting flight patterns according to the wind current. She could practically feel the freedom under her wings, it was breathtaking. It had been so long since she breathed the real earthen air. As she flew, the moon followed on her wings glinting in the light. Enjoying herself, Kate let out a laugh as she barrel rolled through the night sky.

It was even better than she imagined, being back on earth flying through the air. Kate closed her eyes and let the wind carry her some ways. God was it worth it to be back! When she opened her eyes it was like seeing the world for the first time all over again. With the large beats of her wings Kate pounded through the air going higher and higher. She pushed through the air with all her might until she was face to face with the moon.

She beat her wings in the air, keeping at the same altitude. Kate let out a sigh as she closed her eyes and stopped. Her body went limp in the crisp air as she tucked her wings in a nose dive. Kate could feel the sharp daggers of the wind on her face as she fell from the sky. When she opened them, Kate was a mere 10 feet from the ground. Using all her strength to push against the wind, she spread her wings. The wind caught beneath her wings and she was whisked from the nose dive and pulled upward. As her descent slowed, she beat her wings in the air and landed safely on the asphalt parking lot.

"Tah- Dah!"
