Chapter Two Part One
"How do you think someone starts a rumour? I mean, really starts one. Like how everyone believed that thing about Lara's boobs last year," Jenny spoke through a piece of apple being mutilated between her teeth, her eyes fixated on the populars’ table at the other end of the cafeteria. Her black hair was pulled back in a high pony today, showing off her glorious pale and scar free skin. Her outfit on the other hand was more Goth today with the running black pantyhose and the skirt with a few dozen zippers protruding through it.
"Lara's boobs? Now that's my kind of topic," Abe snickered, leaning forward on the lunch table and wiggling his eyebrows beneath his shaggy head of dirty blonde hair.
"Oh man, her boobs are the best," Erik joined in a moment later, giving Abe a high five when they shared a knowing look. He then pushed his glassed up his nose and used the other hand to slick back his already greased hair.
"As much as I'd like to talk about boobs-" I started with a roll of my eyes, only to be cut off by an arm being slung over my shoulders. I turned and narrowed my eyes at Ace, “I don’t want to talk about boobs.”
"Boobs?" Ace quickly joined in, a smirk on his lips. He sat his lunch tray down and I snuck a whiff of his fries knowing I wouldn't be able to eat any because I definitely didn't need it.
"Okay, enough children. I was just curious. Jeez, I would hate to have anyone go premature on my ass right now," Jenny muttered regrettably earning a loud snort from me and two pairs of flushed cheeks from Abe and Erik.
It had been three days since my first therapist session and the monster dinner with my family and the ever Mr. Perfect who rode in on his magic white steed disguised as a Honda Civic. I had ignored him and my parents for the past few days, which was easy on my parent’s behalf. They hardly even noticed when I was trying to get their attention. Riley, on the other hand, had been trying to communicate with me somewhat. Making small talk in the car with someone I couldn't stand for more than 15 minutes wasn't my idea of fun though.
Every fiber of my being wished they'd all leave me alone.
"I guess no one ever believes the truth because lies are so much more fun," Jenny said after a moment of thought.
The table went silent for a moment before Abe broke it by spouting off about some new band he found online.
Ace nudged my arm and I glanced over at him.
"Are you going to eat?" He narrowed his eyes at the water bottle placed in front of me.
If I ate now, I'd bet my life I'd throw it up later.
"Nope, not hungry. I'll eat something when I get home." I waved my hand as if it was no big deal and Ace looked slightly satisfied with my answer.
"You can have some of my fries if you want," he offered generously, pushing his tray towards me. The smell wafted up into my nostrils and my stomach gurgled in delight.
I quickly pushed it back in his direction.
"No I'm good, really."
I pasted on a smile but he continued to stare at me suspiciously.
"Hey, Ace? Can I have some of those?" Jenny reached across the table and scooped out a handful of fries before he could say anything.
"Hey!" he cried in disbelief.
"I asked."
"You didn't even let me answer! You owe my seven fries, Jenny! Seven!"
We all rolled our eyes at his dramatics. He'd always been one to make everything into a play.
