"You can't kill me, girl." Voldemort taunts, while Bellatrix laughs beside him. I stay silent, just watching him hatefully, letting my rage boil over inside me. The bodies of several students lay strewn across the Hogwarts courtyard, between Voldemort and his death eaters and Dumbedore's army and I; Murdered in cold blood, just because they wanted to protect their school....and it's my fault, if I never went with Hagrid, I never would've come to Hogwarts, never would've made it a target of the dark wizard."Your fight is hopeless. Your army, barely there, it's your chance now to join me! Join me, or die." He shouts, raising his arms with each word and even trying to seem friendly. Nobody moves or says anything, creating a tense silent thickness in the air between the two armies.
"Must I make a statement? Fine, it's all your own fault." Voldemort throws his wand arm up and shouts, "Avada Kedavra!" Causing a green blast to shoot out from the tip of the wand. I jump in surprise, and my eyes widen as I spin around, ready to run in front of the curse so no one else has to die; but I'm too late, my actions come too late. The blast hits Hagrid, right in the chest, provoking several screams from multiple students.
For a moment he just stands there, several tears in the corner of his eyes; but then he falls onto his knees, and then flat against the ground. My mouth opens and closes repeatedly, my eyes batting in disbelief. "Ha-Hagrid...Hagrid?" I try and call out to him, my voice low and wispy. Quickly, I then get over to him, and get on my knees beside his head. His eyes are open, and for a second I try and convince myself he's just watching the clouds, but I can't. His eyes are dull, very much unlike they were when he was...when he was alive.
"Hagrid p-ple-please...please..." I stutter, in complete shock. Hagrid brought me here, he was my friend, he's supposed to be my friend for the rest of my life...he's not supposed to die! But he is dead...I can't help him...I can't do anything. I scream louder than I've ever screamed before, and my rage filled eyes flick towards the opposing army, causing several death eaters to be lifted off the ground, off their feet, levitated upwards quickly, and then are thrown back onto the ground with such force, not a bone in their body isn't broken.
I've just killed at least twenty death eaters...I look up towards Voldemort and his remaining soldiers, my entire body shaking with anger, my fiery rage finally on display for all to see; It seems to scare some people, even Bellatrix stops smiling wickedly, probably surprised that this is all coming from a seventeen year old girl.
Draco is watching me from the other side, his father gripping onto his shoulders tight enough to snap the bones. The death eaters are beginning to scatter, their dark lord screaming at them to stand with him, absolutely disgusted at their cowardice. I jump to my feet and point my wand at the snake, "AVADA KEDAVRA!" the green blast shoots towards Voldemort, but he apparates out of the way, so the spell hits the death eater behind him. Fenrir Greyback hits the ground, and I feel a swell of pride, for avenging Remus.
Once again, after a brief attack, the two armies are at a standstill, waiting for the other to make another move. "Draco!" I call to him, after finally spotting his white blond hair behind a few death eaters. "You said you'd fight with us. You promised. So come fulfill your promise." Voldemort barks out a laugh, and accio's a terrified Draco to him, then grabbing him by the hair on the back of his head. I hold my breath, praying what I think is going to happen isn't right.
"Lift your sleeve, boy." Riddle hisses to Draco, who turns his head way, but obeys. when he lifts his sleeve, a dark mark is in full view, and my heart instantly breaks. He lied. He told me he wouldn't...and he did..how could he do this to me? The snake pushes Draco forwards, towards the ones he betrayed. "Sara-" "Draco, fulfill your task." Voldemort interrupts him, a twitch of a smile on his face. Draco takes a deep breath and raises his wand, directly at me.
"You betrayed us? you betrayed...me?" I ask him, my eyebrows furrowed in disbelief and sadness. "I need to do this, for my parents...I-I'm s-sorry..." "Enough of this! IMPERIO!" Voldemort shrieks, striking Draco with the curse. His pupils dilate, almost completely covering those grey eyes I loved so much.
"Kill her." The snake sneers, turning away to fight my soldiers. Draco looks emotioness, any regret that was in his eyes have now vanished, leaving a shell. A cold, unfeeling shell. "Avada kedavra." He casts the curse simply, seemingly bored. I reflect it and see him tense up a bit at his failure.
"Stupify!" I cry out, tears falling fast from my face. I miss, due to my own instinct to not hurt him, but I can't let him kill me, he'd never forgive himself once he was free from the unforgivable. Draco grunts in frustration and fires the killing curse again, once again I reflect it, walking closer to him as he fires again and again and again, until I'm only a few inches away from him.
"AVADA KEDAVRA!" He yells once again, exasperated and angry. I take another step after reflecting the spell, and reach out for him, trying in my last attempt to free him on my own. His eyebrows furrow angrily and he bares his teeth, as I wrap my arms around his neck quickly and pull him into a kiss. Fallen tears leave stains on my dirty cheeks, and newer tears that didn't fall sting my eyes when I close them.
Draco is obviously taken aback, but I feel him kiss me back, and my body begins to swell with joy, I pull back smiling, and press my forehead to his. My eyes are still closed, So I can't see if he's smiling as well, but I can hear his heavy breathing, and it sounds like he's content too. "Draco...I love yo-"
I'm cut off by a sharp pain in my abdomen, and my eyes shoot open and look down. Draco's wand is pointing directly at me, and when I look up his eyes are still black, and his smile is menacing. I open my mouth to speak, but all that comes out are squeaks and whimpers, and suddenly I can't feel my legs. My hands begin to grip tighter to his shoulders, trying to keep myself standing, but he reaches up and pries them off of him. I stare up at him, sadly, in disbelief, and cover his eyes with one hand, trying to pretend that he's still the same boy I fell in love with.
My body goes completely numb, and he pushes me onto the ground, where my body's impact stirs up the dirt and dust, making it difficult for me to see anything, which is probably good, I'd rather not see him smiling at my death. Snap, I'm out. My eyes close and my body lets go of the tension. Draco turns away from my corpse and faces his master, who laughs heartily at my fate.
My friends scream, Ron has to hold Hermione back with all his strength as she tries to run to me. Sirius, who had just finished off a death eater, hears the screams and feels his stomach fill with dread. Luna and Neville look up from his wounds at the noise, and walk together to investigate.
Lucius Malfoy smiles weakly, exhausted from the battle, and his wife smiles with him, hiding her true pain. "Lucius..." She says, her voice just above a whisper, he turns and look down at her, angry that she's killing his moment. "Draco..he'll be devastated.." Her voice shakes, thinking about what her poor boy will have to endure.
"Oh be quiet! He's far better off without that stupid girl clouding his judgement." Lucius nearly slaps her, but his proud nature decides not to make a scene. Narcissa nods frantically, pretending to agree, as she watches her son come back to reality, bracing herself for the moment he discovers what he's done.
