"I know what I said– you're making me sound like one of those husbands who never come home for dinner on time."

gyuni didn't reply immediately. she thought you two were laying off of the H word, but here you were throwing it off your tongue like hand grenades.

the receiver of the phone cracked and filled with static, you could hear the other female closing doors.

" because that's exactly what you're acting like, and if you keep not showing up then I'll unwife you or stab you with a knife."

"please which one will rip my heart out quicker?" your undertone flaring with sarcasm.

"rita."

"what? I've been stabbed in the back so many times, I might as well be julius caesar."

"look I've cooked three good dinners and you haven't shown up to any of them." her voice shakes in a whimper through the phone.

"how can I make you feel better if you still won't leave work?"

"I'll be there okay? promise."

"don't promise, just be here." the phone call ended with a click and your phone dimmed down.

you sat in your own silence a while before cleaning up your desk, changing your shoes, packing your purse and bag to head home.

your office was the last bright room on in the entire building. everyone else had left hours ago; including the janitor.

so as you worked you were constantly bothered by a tapping sound in the halls. it was similar to heels or tap shoes.

"what is that?" you looked up squinting. slowly you stood from your chair and pushed it in, turning off your light, grabbing your heels and walking down the hall.

for a moment the tapping stopped and you shrugged it off, perhaps just the building settling.

opening your phone, you scrolled through it. your blazer flaring as you moved when a shadow stepped out into the open and you hit it straight on, knocking yourself down onto the ground.

wincing, you look up to see a man who didn't seem too shaken by the collision, his mouth was open and his eyes wide in surprise, but his posture was firm.

with one hand shoved into his pocket, he kept his weight on one leg; the other hand holding up a smartphone. explaining why neither of you seen each other.

"ish don't you know it's past business hours? you shouldn't be here."

the man scrunched his nose, pointing back accusingingly at you. "you're not supposed to be here either."

"I had work to finish."

"I had work too, I've been waiting for you."

"eh?"

"ish my parents taught me some manners, it's only curtesy not to leave a woman by herself."

"well why didn't you announce yourself?!"

"because you're always moody with people now."

you stopped, blinking. moody? well that's one way to put it.

"I wouldn't call it moody." you grunt. lifting yourself up to stand. brushing off your pencil skirt and picking up your heels.

the man turned away, walking off to turn on a hall light. now you could see him better.
and you realized it was seokjin, one of the rentable boyfriends .

"well what would you call it ms.yoh?"

"Ish why would you call me that? ms makes me sound so single, stop." you covered your ears.

seokjin only raised an eyebrow, "what were you saying about not being moody?"

he chuckled but offers for you to lead, and you both walk out of the building and into the surprisingly warm night air.

the two of you walked to your car in silence.
and he watched when you stepped in.
"well thank you for waiting till I was done—but next time don't creep on me m'kay?"

he only gave you a thumbs up, patting the car and stepping back for you to drive.

the engine starts only to immediately die.

"no no..." you twisted the key spastically, listening to the engine struggling to push itself.
"damn it!"

you threw your head back on the car seat and groaned, hitting the horn of your car and shouting words that you couldn't even hear.

eventually you calmed down and sighed.
"thank you so much for this life..."

a tap on the window made you look up, seokjin curiously raising an eyebrow.

you pushed the door open for him and shook your head before he could even ask."my car is being a—."

he covered your mouth before you could say whichever new selection of curse words you had thought up.

"I get it, but you know I have a friend who says that cursing isn't very good for your skin."
he chuckles and takes your hand, pulling you out of the car.

"I'll drive you home."
