"Remind me why is Adriano still here and more importantly," Lorenzo paused dramatically,"Why is he helping us." Lorenzo and I were walking to the living room area for a meeting with everyone. After Adrian came in and told us he had a lead, he requested that everyone is to come together so he can unveil his discovery.
I glanced over my shoulder to look at Lorenzo. He was still sour about Adrian being here and breathing his air. "Why can't you just accept the help he's giving us," I whirled around to face him. When my eyes met his struggling form, they softened. Lorenzo still limping and was on crutches. As much as Lorenzo hated it, he had to use it to help keep the weight off his leg.
I moved towards him and wrapped an arm around his waist to help support him better. Even though Lorenzo lost a ton of weight, he was still heavy as f.ck.
"The guy is your ex!" His eyebrows lifted as he shouted as if it was the most obvious thing— and in this case, it was. "I've wanted to kill the bastard since we were teens also!"
"Why do you hate him?"
Lorenzo furrowed his eyebrows. His forehead creased as he rubbed his eyebrow slowly. "I don't know."
I paused suddenly and jolted back. This also caused Lorenzo to stumble back a bit since we were clinging onto one another. Lorenzo steadied himself with the support of the wall before he scowled over at it with an what the fuck look.
Ignoring him, I shouted as I flailed my arms in the air," What do you mean you don't know? And you've hated him for how many years without a reason! And I thought women were confusing but darn!"
Lorenzo rolled his eyes before he waddled over to me and wrapped an arm around my waist. "Our fathers hated each other so I guess we hated each other automatically too."
I lazily draped my arm over his shoulder and we continued our way down to the livingroom. "I always thought that he did something horrible. Remember when we had gone to Silvio's party and you got mad jealous?"
Lorenzo glanced before his lips lifted into a smirk. "I'm a possessive man, bambola. You're the love of my life— even though you're annoying and batshit crazy as hell."
My eyes widened and my heart fluttered at his words. I knew I meant so much to Lorenzo but it's rare for him to actually express his feelings for me. He's not a romantic.
"Since you've gotten back you've been saying all these weird stuff," I say in astonishment," Like wow. Did you really say I'm the love of your life? The Lorenzo I know would've stared at me like a creep until I ran away."
Lorenzo let out a hearty laugh before he shook his head. "Hey! At least I smack your ass and call you beautiful. Besides you love it when I stare at you. You love knowing that you have my full attention and most of all." Lorenzo suddenly grabbed onto my hips, pulling me close and letting his crutches fall. "You absolutely relish in the fact that I am all yours just as you are mine."
I stared into his eyes that were breaking me down piece by piece. His eyes were clouded as his thumb absentmindedly stroked my cheek. I think I just fell more in love with him than I already were—which by the way, is a lot. Whatever we felt for one another was too strong to be deemed as love. We became each other's everything and it would be our undoing.
"Lorenzo," I whispered," Your crutches. You can't put too much weight on your foot."
Lorenzo rolled his eyes before quickly pecking my lips. "I'm confessing my love for you, giving you my heart and soul and you tell me about my crutches."
