chapter eight

I wake up to Anna jumping on me. I see that I am back at our house which would explain why Anna was jumping on me. She runs out of the room and I’m guessing that she went to the kitchen or her room.

I get out of bed and put a long sleeve shirt on with jeans and slowly walk downstairs with my hair in my face. I walk into the kitchen to see everyone sitting at the table.

I get a cup of coffee, even though I don’t intend on drinking or eating anything. I take it back upstairs and sit it on the table before taking a chair onto the balcony attached to my bedroom so I can think of a way out of here.

Every once in awhile someone would come in to make sure I haven’t done anything I’m not suppose to i just fake smile and lie that I’m okay.

The last person to check on me before I go through my plan was val.

“Zay you need to eat or drink something,” he starts but I shake my head no so he sighs, “ I sent Anna to Madison’s for while. She doesn’t need to see you like this.” I just nod so he leaves.

I head to the bathroom, flush the toilet and sneak out of the window. I run to my house making sure to stay hidden so no one sees me so if they go looking for me they don’t know where to start.

I successfully make it through one of the windows of my house. I make sure no lights are left on before heading up to one of the closets of the many bedrooms and hiding in there.

As soon as I lay down on the floor I pass out.

(hours later. Sometime in the evening.)

I wake up to someone yelling my name and me shivering from the cold. I look down at my bandage and start thinking maybe if I take it off I could die or something before they find me.

I take the bandage of and blood starts seeping through my skin again. I smile at the blood and close my eyes focusing on the blood coming out.

I fall asleep from being too cold. I wake up to someone moving in the room outside the closet door.

i hear them messing with the closet door so I quickly close my eyes again.

I hear it open all the way and a gasp. Then I hear this, “ I found her! She’s bleeding again!” I pass out again.

I start having a nightmare of Oliver beating me. I start whispering, “please no! I'm sorry! It won't happen again, I promise!” I thrash around in my sleep.

I feel warm familiar hands and realizes its Val. I calm down to where I fall completely asleep again.

(An hour later)

I wake up again to realize I'm in my bed and my arm is bandaged again. I sense that no one is near me and sit up.

Once I could tell no one is outside the door I walk out. I head down the stairs carefully not knowing where anyone is.

I make it down to the kitchen to see Val sitting at the table with his head down his body moves slightly every couple seconds.

I  could tell he had been crying from his red rimmed eyes.

I quietly enter and keep my back to him as I get water to drink.

As I drink it I keep my back to him except when I hear him speak.

“Zayla, you scared us s-so m-much.” He starts saying before I turn around, “we thought you were *hiccup* g-gone.”

I turn to him and see him crying again. Tears start running down my face. “I-I’m s-so s-sorry. I didn't mean to. I thought you all didn't care about me. I wanted to die.” I say.

I fall to the ground crying hard. “I-I didn't mean to!” I yell. He comes up to me and bends down to wrap his arm around me.

“Shhh. Zay it is okay. We found you. It's fine. My sister will be here to stitch your arm up and put a brace on it. You didn't mean any harm.”

I still cry until I couldn't breathe. I gasp trying to catch my breathe. He pulls out my inhaler and I use it. I look down, “I'm so sorry.”

He puts his hand under my chin and pulls my face up to look at him. He kisses each of my remaining tears away.

“It's fine zay.” he said. We finally stand up. We sit at the table and sit in silence. After a while Val stands up and falls to his knees right in front of me and starts begging me for his forgiveness.

I fall down next to him reassuring him that everything will be okay. After he calms down I sit back on the chair and he stands up.

He reaches into his pocket and pulls a little box out and gets back down on one knee. One of my hands fly up to my mouth once I realize what's happening.

“Zayla, I love you, your flaws, your imperfections. I think your scars are beauty and proof of everything you have survived. I want use to be together for the rest of our lives. I want to be like Anna’s big brother. So please, will you marry me and make me the happiest guy I can think of ?” Valentino asks.

Tears of happiness run down and I say, “yes! I would love to.” He jumps up hugging and kissing me before calming down and putting the engagement ring on my finger.

After our excitement calms down the doorbell rings and Val looks at me.

“I will get the door. If you don't want the whole world to know we are engaged until we tell everyone hide your ring.”

I nod and hide it in my pocket so no one will see it. Val comes back with a girl who I'm guessing is his sister by how much they look alike.

They stop in front of me. “ sis this is my girlfriend zayla. Zayla this is my sister Jessica.” He says.

I hold my non injured hand out to shake her hand. She takes it saying, “it's a pleasure to finally meet you.”

I take my hand back shyly and nod.

I sit back down and val begins explaining what happened and why she is here. As he tells my story to her I hear every once in awhile a little gasp from her.

Finally she comes up to me asking to see my arm which I give her. She gasps again.“You poor girl. I could never go through what you have. You must be so strong to go through all that and be up on top.” She says and I blush.

Val sits behind me to where I can lean into him while Jessica gets her medical bag she carries around and starts stitching my arm up.

I flinch every now and then but don't scream out in pain like some does. I have been through too much to scream anymore.

As she continues val just whispers nice little things in my ear. Finally she is done , puts the brace on and sits back as I fall back completely against val tired again.

Val thanks her and so do I. She sits down across from us. I sit up fully again.“Would you like something to drink?” I say as soon as the front door opens and all my friends come in.

They all say water so Val comes to help me. “Since everyone is here we might as well tell them.” I say to val and he nods whistling. I slip my ring on and take some drinks to Christa stormy and maxwell while val gets the rest.

As soon as I pass Christa her glass I heard her gasp, “ no way!” I smile shyly.  I nod and val comes up to me, “I asked her before Jessica came.”

The girls jump up screaming in excitement of a wedding.

“It's not going to be anytime soon girls so calm down.” I say as val drags me down to sit on his lap. I smile and realize everything will be okay in our lives.
