Sean's POV
I drove down the Los Angeles highway with Kenzie in the back seat. She had her first round of chemo today, and she wanted me to be there. Sam and Shelby stayed home with Mark and were sleeping in. "Daddy." I looked in the rear view mirror at my little girl. "Yeah Kenzie?" "Am I going to survive this?" I smiled. "Of course you are, baby. We'll do everything in our power to make you better again." She smiled and started to fall asleep. I worried for her. I don't want her to leave us and especially leave her twin behind. If she were to die, Sam would be affected the most. Shelby and I both know it. I parked the car when we got to the hospital and gently put her on my shoulders. I walked in through the door and tap her forehead. "We're here." She smiled and I let her down. We walked up to the front desk and signed in. "Chemo, huh?" the lady sitting at the desk asked. Kenzie nodded sleepily. "Good luck." My little girl gave a weak smile and we walked over to the elevator and rode it up to the floor we needed. The nurses walking around the floor waved at us and we walked up to a second desk. "Kenzie McLoughlin. That's a pretty name. You know, there's a person living in Ireland with the same last name. I hear he's married and has a daughter with the same name as you." I smiled and looked down at the clean white tiles. "Let me show you to your room. Don't worry. Everything is going to be OK." Kenzie gripped my hand in fear and looked up at me. "Is it going to hurt?" I looked down at her with sad eyes. "It shouldn't, sweetheart. I'm sure the doctors will do everything to make sure it won't."
Shelby's POV
Sam was sleeping next to me, his hand slightly curled in front of his face. His mouth was curled in a frowning position.. I gently got out of bed and walked downstairs. Chica was running around the kitchen behind Mark who had a treat in his hand. "Ah, there she is. Good morning, princess." I smiled and sat down on one of the bar stools around the kitchen island. "I have coffee. I reached my arms across the granite counter tops and motioned towards the caffeinated drink. Mark ruffled my hair and handed me a mug. "Ah, thank you." He smiled and gave Chica the treat that was in his hand. "What do you want to do today? We could go out, maybe stay in and watch a movie." "I promised Sam that we would go to the mall. He really wants to go to the bookstore today. The final book in the series he's reading comes out today." Mark nodded and sipped his coffee. "I would offer to come with, but Amy is coming over later and I have a house to clean up." I smiled and lightly punched his shoulder. "It's alright. Sam has wanted a mother-son day for awhile. It will be nice to give the forgotten child some love after giving one twin more attention." Mark smiled. "He knows that you don't mean to not give him the same amount of attention you give Kenzie. He understands that she's getting more attention because she's sick. I'm sure it would be the same way if it was reversed. The twin ESP is strong between the two of them." I smiled. "I call them the Wonder Twins." "Really? I think of Dipper and Mabel." We both laughed. I saw Chica run towards the stairs and jump up on Sam's legs. "Hey Sammie. How'd you sleep?" He rubbed his eyes and sat next to me. I heard him mumble and I rubbed his head. "We're going out today! I can't have you be sleepy on our mother-son day." I could the a hint of a smile. Suddenly, a wave of nausea ran through me. I tried to hide it as best I could, but I knew Mark saw. "How 'bout you go get dressed and we'll regroup in half an hour." He nodded and ran back upstairs. "You OK? You look like you're going to be sick." I shook my head and put a hand to my stomach. "I'll be fine. Don't worry. I'm sure it was nothing. Are you sure you didn't poison me to get my kids?" We both laughed again and he put a hand on my shoulder. "Just take it easy. If you come home early, I might just hurt you." I smiled and got up to go get ready. Chica zoomed passed me to get to Mark, who had just served himself up some food. I smiled and climbed the stairs.
Sean's POV
I watched over Kenzie who was sleeping from her recent dose of medicine. She was a peaceful sleeper, but always had a frown on her face while she slept. Her and Sam both had the same expression while they slept. Her heart meter was giving off a steady beep every few seconds. I looked down at my phone and saw that I have a message from Mark.
