It started
With a loud noise
And a boom.
It was morning,
When Terri and I
Saw it falling
From the sky.
"What is it?" She asked me,
And I didn't respond.
Because,
It looked like
Some type of
Drop ship
To me.
"Let's go back to camp."
I suggested.
Terri nodded and
I picked up my arrows,
Slinging them over my shoulder,
Adjusting
The black skull helmet
Over my face.
By the time we got back,
People were gathered there,
Waiting.
Waiting for
An explanation of some sort.
"Did you see that?"
One of my friends,
Stiles,
Asked me quietly.
I could tell that
He had redone his face paint
In order to impress
Terri.
The two of them
Definitely had something
Going on
That they thought I didn't know about.
Anya came out
A few seconds later,
Tris by her side.
Tris.
Her second.
Anya's second.
I bit my lip,
At the thought of how I had
Rigged the Second choosing,
When Terri had
Suggested I let
Tris win.
"She's just
Twelve."
Terri had told me,
"Tris will be
Dead
In a matter of days,
Out there."
That was not the case.
It should be
Me
Up there.
Anya made small talk,
Because we all knew what
We would do.
"Any volunteers?" She asked,
After informing us warriors
That we were to
Spy
On their camp,
Effective
Immediately.
Stiles nudged me,
"This is your chance."
He said.
"To what?" I asked him
Quietly.
"To prove yourself to Anya."
Stiles said.
And what he said
Made sense.
So I shot my hand up into the air.
I was going
To bring one of these people back.
I was going to show
Anya
That I could be ruthless
That maybe
She had chosen
The wrong
Second.
