Hey, Baby.

Hey, Travis.

Can you do me a favor?

Sure. What?

Can you drive me to the airport?

Sure. When?

At eight, Katlyn picked me up. "Hi, Baby," I said. " 'Sup, Travis." She said nonchalantly. I got into the passenger seat and kissed her. "Where to?" She asked. I gave her the directions to the airport. When we got to the airport, Katlyn insisted to walk in with me. I gave in and let her come in with me. "So, when will you be back?" She asked. I didn't want to tell her, but I guess now I have to. "Um, in a few.... weeks," I admitted. "What? A few weeks?" She asked. "Uh, yeah. Sorry." I apologized.

Katlyn

If we were not in an airport, I would have yelled at Travis. But I understand he needs to see his parents. "Alright. I'm gonna miss you." I say. "Final boarding call for flight 118." The P.A. system is always hard to understand, but I know this means Travis is leaving. "Bye, Baby." He says. I jump up and give him a hug. "Bye, Travis," I say. I let go and he kisses me one last time, and I watch him disappear into the crowd.
I drive home listening to the radio. One of my favorite songs, All Time Low, comes on. I sing along. By the time I listened to more songs, I was home.

~Magical Time Skip to 9 p.m.~

I pulled on an old T-shirt and shorts, grabbed my phone, and called Travis. "Hey, Travis! Did you land safely?" I asked. "Yup perfectly fine. But one bad thing." He says. "What?" I ask, kind of worried. "I'm without my Baby!" He whines. I laugh. "Travis, you're such a dork," I say. "Ya, but I'm your dork!" He says. "I can't argue with that," I told him. I heard a chuckle on the other end. "Alright. I love you, my angel." He said. "I love you too, my dork." I hung up, plopped down on my bed, and fell asleep.

~A Few Weeks Later~

I hear a knock at the door. "Come in," I say. Travis has been gone for 3 weeks, and I've been bored for 2 weeks, 6 days, and 23 hours. They open the door. "Hey, dinner's ready. Come down, while it's still hot." Aphmau says. I grunt. "Fine. I'm coming." I say. I slowly drag my feet downstairs. I sit down at the table to a dinner of Chinese. I hungrily dive into my mandarin orange chicken from Panda Express. After 5 minutes of eating, I felt arms around my neck. "Hey, Baby." The voice says. "Travis!" I exclaim.

I decided to surprise my Baby. She gets up from her chair and hugs me. "I missed you!" She says. I kiss her. "Hey, you two, no making out at the table," Aphmau says. Katlyn laughs. "Oh, yeah?" She taunts. I laugh. She turns to me. "How are your parents?" She asks. I feel a stabbing pain. I figured it was guilt. "Um, that's what I wanted to talk to you about," I say. I see her slump. "Can I talk to you? Outside?" I ask.

"Two MONTHS?! You're leaving for two more months?" She says. I slowly nod.

"Why are you going away for so long?"

"Baby, my parents need me."

"Well, yeah, I know, but why can't your brother help?"

"He has a family of his own."

"Shouldn't siblings help each other?"

"He can't!"

"Why not?"

"Because my parents are going to die!" I explode. Katlyn gasps. "Travis, I-" She starts. I'm going to regret what I'm going to say. "Baby, I'm going to be gone for a while. I won't get to see you... almost not at all." I started. "Ya, I know." She says. "Maybe it's best if we just... break up." I finish. "What? Why?" She panics. "Katlyn, it's not anything you've done," I say. "Long distance relationships never work," I say. I look at her. Tears are rolling down her face. She slowly backs up, then turns toward the house, and runs. "Katlyn!" I run after her. I follow her to her room. I knock.

Katlyn

"Go away," I say, my voice shaking. He comes in any way and sits down next to me. "Baby, I don't want to break up with you. You are my life. I love you. It's just... it won't work with me traveling all of the time." He says. I hug my knees. "Hey, look at me." He says calmly. I look up at him. He pulls me into a kiss.

I don't want this to end. I know when he leaves, I'll be all alone. I love him. I'll miss him. So this is life, I thought. Relationships, heartbreak, pain. He pulls away. I hug him. "Don't leave," I whisper. But to my dismay, he gently pries my arms off of him. He gets up and walks to the door.

"I love you." He whispers.

And with that, Travis left me.

I did what I could in that moment.

I cried.
