No, no, no, no, no, no... He can't be dying. C'mon, Travis, stay with me! My eyes haven't dried and don't seem to be planning on drying anytime soon. Laurence and Garroth drove in their own cars and called the others to meet at the hospital. The ride to the hospital was bitter and blurry. There were load sounds, scared faces, and worried friends. I blindly follow the stretcher to a room where Travis is hooked up to a heart monitor. I can't bear to look at his wound. A kind woman gently removes my hand from Travis's.
"Ma'am, your friend is in stable condition. We are going to take him to surgery to look at the damage and then we will close his wounds. Could you tell me a little about him so we can help him more?" Her voice was smooth and comforting, like ice cream on a hot, summer day. I nod and wipe my eyes.
"H-his name is Travis Valkrum. He was stabbed with a knife... he.. he tried to help me... I... I shouldn't have left... It's my fault..." I start, my eyes watering again.
"Miss, it was not your fault. You did the right thing and got him help. Because of you, we can heal him." She says, laying a hand on my shoulder. Her seaweed green eyes glistened with understanding and support. "Do you know his age?"
"Mhm. He's 24. He's my boyfriend. The person who stabbed him was my ex. He tried to fight him off because... Jeffory was going to hurt me..." I reply, my voice trailing off as I glance over at Travis being pushed out of the room.
"That's so sweet. You must really love him." She responds. "I promise, we will look at his wounds, see if anything needs to be done, and then stitch him up and send him home. You can visit him after his examination every day that you want to." The woman adds.
"Thank you. Thank you so much!" I say, smiling. She leads me toward the exit and I head home. For the first time since this morning, I felt hopeful about the future coming our way.
I know, I know... it's been a while since I've updated. I'm SUPER sorry about that. Also, I am sorry for this short chapter as well... But I PROMISE the next chapter will be longer. I'm challenging myself to 500+ words. But for now,
