Travis
I slowly open my eyes and feel a weight on my chest. I look down, seeing my beautiful Katelyn sleeping peacefully snuggled up to my chest. I smile to myself and wrap my arms around her, holding her close to me. She stirs a little. "Good morning, Travis." She mutters, muzzling her face in my chest. I lay my chin on top of her head and close my eyes.
"Morning, Sunshine," I say. We lay like that for a few minutes. Katelyn sighs and looks at me with her big beautiful blue eyes. "I love you so much," I tell her, rubbing her back.
"You are my everything, Travis. I love you to the next galaxy and back." She replies. I smile and move her chin to look at me. I passionately kiss her. Suddenly, nothing matters. It's just me and her. After all, she is my everything. My cure. My love. My life. My girl. She leans her head against mine so we are forehead to forehead. I put my hand on her cheek and whisper to her, "I will never let anything happen to you, even if it kills me."
After a few minutes, she lays back down and her breathing becomes relaxed again. I smile to myself, knowing the girl of my dreams is peacefully sleeping right in my arms.
"How sentimental." Someone states. Katelyn and I immediately shoot up to see a figure standing in the doorway.
"Who are you?!" I ask, feeling for my phone in case I need to call the cops. He moves closer to Katelyn, looking at her with lust in his eyes. I immediately shoot out of bed and stand in front of her. "Fuck off," I say, seething. The man just laughs and looks at Katelyn.
"And that, sweety, are the last words your boyfriend will ever say." He says in a sweet tone. He grabs a knife from my dresser and stabs my side. I fall to the ground, blood soaking my white undershirt and dripping down to my faded jeans. Katelyn gasps, running to me.
"Go! Get help!" I weakly yell. She looks at me with tears in her eyes. "I love you," I say. She nods and runs.
"That's a shame. It would've been a nice lesson on how to properly kill someone." He says. He rushes at me, knife ready. With a yell, I jump to my feet and slam him into the wall. I hold his wrists against the wall and he struggles to get free. With a sigh, he gives up. This seems too easy... suddenly he whips me around so I'm against the wall. He has one arm on my throat. If I try to move, he'll suffocate me. He slowly inspects his knife, taunting me. "You know... I could be generous and kill you quick..." he starts. He looks at me and laughs. "...but I'm not feeling generous today." He finishes, thrusting the knife into my stomach. I scream out in pain, feeling my consciousness already slipping.
"Why are you doing this?" I weakly ask.
"Because you took her from me." He says, no pity in his eyes. He moves the knife deeper and I groan. Realizing who I'm dealing with, I sigh.
"Jeffery..." I start. He rips the knife out of me and lets me fall to the ground.
"Pathetic. You didn't even try." He says. He was right... I could've kicked him down and disarmed him... God, I'm such a dumbass. I start coughing up blood, slowly sitting up. Jeffery immediately kicks my stomach, making me cry out and fall onto the cold, hard floor. He throws the knife down and walks out of the room. I start crying. I'm dying. I can't get help. Katelyn... my poor Katelyn... I can't leave her. And yet, part of me feels like I'm already dead. As if on cue, Katelyn rushes into the room with Garroth and Laurence. She immediately starts crying. I put a shaky hand on her cheek.
"H-h-hey. Don't cry. I'm gonna be fine." I lie for the benefit of the both of us. Katelyn cups my face in her hands and kisses me. I wipe the tears from her eyes as Laurence calls an ambulance. They put me on a stretcher and put me in the back of the vehicle. They put something on my mouth to put me to sleep. I hold Katelyn's hand and whisper to her.
"I love you, my beautiful Blueberry."
And then there was silence.
