From our parents

Or so we're told
Before birth
Before comprehensive thought in our tiny little brain
Our parents loved us unconditionally
But when you're  me or someone like me
You wonder if that's true
Is it unconditional love when they yell at you
Unconditional love when they raise their fist
Unconditional love when you're crying and they could care less
Is it unconditional love when you feel safer with your friends
When you love school, because it's your safe haven
So tell me really, is it unconditional love when your parents are the reason for all of the above.
