ELENA'S POV

The next day, I was just chilling in the living room when Luke walked inside and started talking to Iris. It was about some random topic, but somehow I knew that it was a sign. The two had never interacted so much on their own without someone else around. I know it's ridiculous, but I know for a fact they're definitely getting closer.

Because it hurts that Iris is probably already replacing me and maybe even closer with Luke than I am, I decide I'm not going to stand for it. Instead of sitting there and watching it happen, I walk out of the living room and upstairs. I feel as though I've been too lazy lately, so I walk into my room and get changed into fresh clothes. Today I'm wearing a pair of black jean shorts and a white crop top. I pull on my sneakers, throw my hair up in a ponytail, grab my sunglasses, and walk down the hall. I know Miles is awake, most likely on his phone in bed. With a quick knock, I await his response.

"Come in," He says loudly. I twist the door knob and push the door open, only walking into the room a step or two. I lean on the doorway and fold my arms across my chest.

"We're going on a hike. We need to talk." I tell him, scratching the back of my neck and glancing out the doorway. "I figured since Luke and Iris are all buddy-buddy now, we should get closer too." I explain, twiddling my thumbs nervously. Miles pretty damn intimidating, especially since I don't want him to think I'm starting to like him instead of Luke.

He seems to take it all in for a second before responding. "Yeah, okay. Sounds good." He got up and walked over to the closet on the other side of the room, pulling on a pair of shorts. "So, where are we gonna go?" He asked, pulling on a pair of long black nike socks.

"I was thinking up to the cliff, maybe more towards our neighbors?" I raise my eyebrows to see if that's okay with him.

"That's fine." He nodded, pulling on a tank top. "Maybe we can go find Rudolph a friend." He chuckled, waving me forward. I follow him out of his room and downstairs. We pass Luke and Iris on our way out, the both of them looking at us all funny. I just shrug at Iris and walk outside.

"They're funny," Miles laughs once we're outside. "It's like you and I hanging out is as rare as a blue moon." I'm taking aback by Miles' words. I didn't think he'd notice them.

"Oh well," I respond, beginning to walk towards the forest. "Seeing them hanging out looks weird. Do you have any idea what they talk about?" I ask as we climb the slope before tree line.

"Yeah, actually. Luke never shuts his mouth about you. It's quite annoying." He patted my shoulder. "Nothing against you, it's just that when I go to talk to him about other things, he brings you into it."

"Really?" I ask, raising my eyebrows. The simple fact that Luke talks about me all the time brings a smile to my face.

"Yeah. For example, the other day I asked him if he wanted anything from the store, and he instantly started talking about you. He was like 'Whatever Elena wants I'm good with.' Then he went on and on about you." I couldn't stop smiling. I wonder if he's ever talked about liking me.

"I can relate, except with Iris. She talks about you like you put the grass on the ground and the stars in the sky." I chuckled, glancing over at the muscular boy walking beside me.

"Really?" Miles had an expression on his face when he looked at me that made me know that he had developed a bit of a crush on Iris. I could see the sparkle in his eyes.
