the scariest part of letting someone in, is wondering if they're going to stay. who says that they will? what signs do you get if they decide not to?
it all starts off easy. you occasionally talk whenever you see them at school or work, you find out that you have some similarities. you may talk to them online, on the phone or just hang out with them. then you realise that you actually enjoy having them around, that your silences can be filled with a simple conversation with them. you feel, alive.
then something happens and you just don't talk as much. maybe you had an argument, or they get into a relationship with someone and ice you out. your silences come back, and you realise how empty everything is when you don't have them to talk to.
this is when you realise that letting someone in can be dangerous for your heart. and it makes it that much harder to let someone else in the next time around. time can help ease the pain, but you don't forget that empty feeling that you had after that time. you never forget.
