Patrick's POV
I couldn't believe it. Jasey looked nothing like herself. Her hair was bleach blonde and she was tattoo-less. Even though she didn't have any when we met, but I've gotten so used to seeing her with them. It felt like seeing Andy without his tattoos.
"What do you mean Fall Out Boy never existed?" Andy asked, snapping me out of my own thoughts.
"Back at the cabin, she told me that Fall Out Boy turned her life around. When she met Joe, she had planned on giving up on her music and going back home. I guess since we never existed, that's what she did." Pete explained. "And as Tessa said, the demon trapped her in a reality that doesn't have one thing that drastically changed their life. In the case of Jasey, Fall Out Boy."
"So what do we do?" I asked.
"Simple, we make her remember." Pete leaned back in his chair.
"How?" Andy wondered. Then they turned to me.
I was worried. "Guys? What are you thinking?" I wondered.
"You asked out Jasey before everything went to hell." Andy said. "And she said yes."
Pete grinned. "I knew it! I knew you two were a thing!"
I rolled my eyes. "Yea, so?"
"Maybe there's still a part of Jasey in there that still remembers you." Andy explained.
"That sounds like the plot of some cheesy romance movie." I replied.
"What? Boy meets girl, boy asks girl out, girl says yes, boy and girl get kidnapped, boy gets possessed, boy accidentally kills girl's best friend, girl escapes, girl learns she has supernatural abilities, girl uses said abilities to save boy, girl gets possessed, girl falls into a coma, boy saves girl." Pete half-joked. "I don't know about you, but that doesn't sound cheesy to me."
"Whatever." I rolled my eyes. "Besides, she didn't look like she recognized any of us."
"Well it may be our only chance to get her back." Pete responded. "Just go talk to her, maybe she'll remember something."
Deep down, I knew Pete was right. It did sound cheesy, but it may be the only way to get her back. We've lost too much to these monsters, and it will be over my dead body before they try and take Jasey away.
I made my way over to the dance floor to try and look for her. She was right in the middle, dancing away with some friends. She looked absolutely stunning.
She turned around and saw me. "Hey, you're Pete's friend, right?" She smiled.
"Um, yea." I replied shyly. 'Come on Stump,' I motivated myself. 'Why are you so nervous to even talk to her? It's Jasey for crying out loud. You two basically lived together for two months.'
"You okay?" She asked.
I nodded. "Yea, it's just that you're really pretty and I was wondering if I could buy you a drink?" I somehow had a wallet with me in this reality, so I though I'd give it a try.
"Sure!" Jasey bounced. "You're pretty cute yourself." She winked as we made out way over to the bar. Pete and Andy both looked at me.
'Anything?' Pete mouthed.
I shook my head. He pounded his fist on the table in frustration.
"So where are you and your friends from?" Jasey asked, taking a seat on one of the barstools.
"Chicago." I replied, taking the seat next to her. "What about you?"
"I was born and raised right here in New Jersey. I've moved around from the cities to the suburbs, but same state my whole life." She responded. "So what do you do for a living?"
"I'm a singer." I said. "Pete, Andy, and I are in a band. Pete plays bass, I play guitar and sing, and Andy is our drummer."
"Cool!" She smiled. "I don't do much with music. I run a small coffee shop on Main Street. But we're always looking for musicians to come and play if you guys ever want to stop by."
"That sounds great." I accepted her offer. The bartender slid a cocktail glass down our way. Jasey reached to pick it up when I noticed a large diamond ring on her finger. My heart sank.
She caught me staring at the ring. "Oh, sorry." She seemed to be flustered.
"I-it's fine." I replied. "Who's the lucky guy?"
"He's a detective down at the police station. His name's Luke, Luke Kiddley. He's not with me tonight, so you don't have to worry about him." She explained. The last name, Kiddley, rang in my head. Could the guy that was standing outside her hospital room be Luke?
"Well he's a lucky guy." I fake smiled and raised my glass. This was going to be a lot harder than I thought it was going to be.
