Chapter 29

I lay talking to Adym about every single thing that came to mind. It felt amazing being able to be so open. My heart and mind are at ease because I think this is a sign I trust him. He makes me happy in a messed up way. I know a lot of people don't like us together, but I love us together. He may not love me the way I want him to, but that doesn't mean he doesn't love me with everything he has. I look into the eyes of the love of my life and I couldn't be happier. We randomly start chatting about Jason, Sawyer and Rebecca. Jason has been a bit reclusive lately and not so much in the picture. Sawyer and Rebecca seem to be doing alright, and they seem really happy together. I ask Adym, "Do you have a favorite memory of me?" He looks at the ceiling and says, "Yes, I actually do. Do you remember when we went to the ice cream shop back in ninth grade? Well, I had ordered us what we had wanted. The lady drew a heart in your ice cream with chocolate syrup. I payed her a dollar to do that really. I lied to you and said may be she thought we just looked like a couple, but I straight up lied." I sit up from the bed and say, "You fucker!" I hit him with my pillow and he shouts, "Ah, stop!" I stop and I laugh hysterically for a few moments. "Well, my favorite moment was when we were laying on the hood of my car." Adym smirks and says, "Yea, that's what started it all." I lay my head on his chest and ask him, "Do you feel safe with me?" He stays silent for a second and my mind starts to wander. Does he not feel comfortable with me anymore? He smiles and says softly, "Kat, with you I feel like a better version of myself, like no bullet could kill me. I feel like I'm unstoppable as long as I have you." My heart flutters with the sweet words that echo from his lips. I ask him, "Since it's still my birthday, can I make a request possibly?" He replies, "Anything for you, babe." I ask him, "Can we go on a date?" He responds back, "Of course, where do you want to go?" I giggle at the thought that came to mind, "Okay, hear me out. We get dressed up super fancy and spectacular and then we go to In N Out." He sits up from his bed and says, "You are really special, you know that buttercup?" He puts his fingers under my chin and I stick my tongue out at him. I yell, "Get ready!" I look through my close and find my special dress. It's a beautiful red velvet dress, short and spectacular just like the occasion. I put it on and strap on some silver heels. Adym puts on a very nice dress shirt and clean pants. I look at him and say, "My oh my, don't you look ravishing!" He poses for me and says, "I know, right?" I play punch him and he tries to do it back, but I say, "SHOULDER!" He stops mid way and awkwardly puts his hand to his side. I grab his hand and say, "Ready?" He nods his hand and I grab the keys to my new Jeep. We walk out to the car and he smacks my ass. I turn around pretending to be offended and he says, "You know you loved it." I smile and hop in the car.

We drive to the same In N Out I came to months ago when I first tracked him down. We walk in the doors and all eyes are on us, obviously. I order a number 1 and a number 2 and that concludes our order. We sit down and wait patiently for our order when I hear over the loud speaker, "Luke, your order is ready." My body freezes and I look at the person walking up to the counter, it's not him. Thank god, that would be terrifying. Before I can speak, I hear a whisper in my ear, "Did you miss me?" Adym is staring straight at him and I can't even begin to turn around and face the monster behind me. He whispers to me, "You've been a bad girl, I can't believe you'd go to the police. It's a good thing the people interviewed you are crooked. I gave them what they wanted, so I'm free to walk around the town and do as I please. I hate to ruin your date night, but I have a surprise for you." Police rush through the door and say, "Adym Alyxander Yorba, you're under arrest for battery." My jaw drops and Adym is taken by police into a cop car. He is struggling to explain to them what happened and trying to get out of their grips and the handcuffs. I run after the car and they close the door. I pound on the door and they drive off to god knows where. I look at Luke and say, "I can't believe you." He comes closer to me and says, "Now he won't get in the way of us. sweetheart." Before he takes a step closer, I take my gun out of my purse and yell, "STOP!" His eyes actually show fear and I stutter, "Y-you see, ever since you ruined me, I prepared myself for the worst. I could kill you right now so help me god, but I won't." He laughs evilly and says, "I knew you couldn't do it." I smirk and say, "I never said I wouldn't hurt you, though." His smile fades away and before he can run, I shoot the ground to scare him. He darts off into the darkness, unable to be seen. I run to my car and drive to the police station I was at before. I see the officers and Adym in hand. I run up to him and say, "Wait." They don't bother to turn around, but Adym says, "Kat, I'll be okay." I yell at the cops, "How much did he pay you, I can give you something better." They finally turn around and face me. The first cop says, "The only thing I'd do to drop the charges, expunge his record, and let him go, is if you give me that car." He points to my Jeep and I throw him the keys. "Deal, Adym is worth more than that." I hate crooked cops. They release him and the cop says, "We will clear his record, nice doing business with you." Adym runs to me and hugs me so tightly I can barely breath. I kiss him so roughly and I say, "I'm sorry I gave up the car, please forgive me." He laughs and says, "I dont care, I never want you to be alone with Luke again." I said, "I scared him off with my gun actually, I think we might be fine for now. I guess the hair didn't fool him." Adym grabs the back of my head and says, "Forever, Kat." I say back, "Forever, Adym."
