Chapter 18

The beach is absolutely beautiful. Last time I went here, I was with Jack. I look next to me and Adym is staring at me. "Are you okay?" I question. He says back, "I'm fine." I remember the last time he was caught staring at me. He said words so deeply and true about how he felt about me and we kissed under the stars. In that moment, I knew everything was perfect. Only for a second, I thought that. After that, Adym ruined our perfection. I accidentally manage to whisper, "Adym." Adym looks up, "Kat?" I stare at him for a second and say, "Let's get our stuff unpacked guys! I'm tryna surf!" Rebecca says, "Hell yea!" We lay down our blankets and bags and get undressed. I put my bathing suit underneath me before we left, so I take my jeans and shirt off. I can feel his eyes on me. I don't know if I like it or not. I decide not to turn around because I don't want to see him gawking over me. We make our way in the water and Rebecca and Sawyer go their own way. I guess it's just Adym and I left with one another. To make conversation, I say, "So how's your car?" He smiles and says, "Amazing. I'm so proud to call this car my own." I smile because he seems genuinely happy. "So, do you know why we came to the beach all of a sudden?" Adym laughs and looks down at the water, "We're filming music videos for my song "Yuhh" and "Guapanese" actually. My face turns a bit red and I say, "Do you want me to film it?" He says, "No, you're my girl in the video. You'll be the star." I laugh nervously and brush it off. "Adym, can we go back to the shore, I want to talk." Adym nods his head and we make our way to the blanket. I look at him and say, "I miss us." His eyes light up, "Really!" We both say at the same time,
"I want to be friends."
I want to be more than friends."
We stare at each other. "Adym, do you mean that?" He looks down and says nothing. "The reason I said that is because we were so toxic before, I can't be with you yet. If we ever were to be truly together, it would have to take time." I ramble on about how bad we are for one another and he jumps on me and kisses me. He kisses me so passionately and so rough. I can only imagine this is soft core porn for anyone looking at us right now. I hear Sawyer clear his throat and Adym jumps off of me, "You know, just practicing for the video." Sawyer says, "Sure, fuckboy." and we all laugh.

Sawyer gets his camera set up and prepares to film. "Do you have that mesh sweater on you?" Adym asks. I nod my head and grab it. He says, "Put it on, it looks good on you." I willingly put it on and smile. I ask Adym, "Have you ever been in a music video before?" He says no. I tell him not to be nervous and to act cool. He puts his hand under my chin me says, "How can I be cool when I'm around you?" I playfully hit his hand away and tell him to knock it off. Sawyer says, "So how about we get shots of you Kat, dancing and posing in the sand. Then we get Adym singing and you can be in some of those shots, and last we can have some really funny and romantic shots? Sound okay?" Adym looks at me and I nod my head. "Let's do it." So I lay in the sand and I hear Adym say, "Lay on your stomach!" So I roll onto my stomach and I hear Adym say, "Shawty got an ass!" I flip him off and Sawyer keeps recording.

After about two hours, we think we have enough shots done. We pack up our things and I can't help but wonder, "Is Jack going to see the music video? How will he feel about it. We're not dating, but I care about him." Adym looks in my eyes and says, "Thanks for all your help, I appreciate it." I say no problem and we make our way to the car

We arrive back at Adyms place which seems like it took forever. We walk in and I look around, "I like the new apartment!" Adym says, "I know, were not done completely moving, but I'm still excited." We go into his room so he can edit all the shots together. After looking through all the shots, we realize how we look at one another in the video. It's like we were in love, in a trance. I look at Adym and say, "So, what do you think? Is this footage usable? He closes his computer and says, "No." We all freeze and Rebecca yells, "What do you mean no? Sawyer worked so hard on all of that footage!" Adym says, "It's not sexual enough, sorry. Just not what I wanted." I can see Sawyer is hurt by what Adym is saying. I whisper to Rebecca, "Grab the SD card before you leave, I have an idea." She smiles and agrees. We make our way out of his place and we leave. Rebecca says, "What are you going to do?" I say back, "Revenge."

We are back at my place and I hop on my computer. It takes me about five hours to edit everything together and put the music in the background. This music video is romantic, sexual, and everything you could hope for. I know Adym doesn't want to admit he loves it, but he does. "When I left, I saw another SD card with "A&K" on it. Want to take a look?" I put it in my computer and it's photos of us since high school. Some with Rebecca and Sawyer, and a lot with Adym and I. I say to Rebecca, "These are going on the video. Only some though." I edit those photos in at the end of Adym and I hugging in 9th grade, Rebecca and Sawyer fake kissing, and Rebecca and I jumping in the air. I'll make this video family oriented as well. Rebecca gets a text and she says, "It's Adym. He knows we have the SD cards and he's coming!" I edit it all perfectly together and as soon as I hear a knock on the door, I drop the video on YouTube. "Yuhh Music Video by Adym Yorba" I put all of our credits down in the bottom and Rebecca let's them in. "Look on YouTube." I say. I see Adyms jaw drop. They watch the entire music video all the way through and Sawyer says, "This is amazing Kat. I love this." I look at Adym and he says, "Go in your room, NOW!" I make my way to my bedroom and before I can say anything, he locks the door and pushes me on the bed. "That music video..." He gets on top of me and holds my hands within his. I can feel his hot breath on me. "It's incredible." He kisses my neck and continues going down. "I knew you'd like it." I choked out. Adym continues teasing me when we hear a knock on the door, "GUYS, COME SEE THIS!" We race out and Rebecca shows us we are number one trending on YouTube. Adym gets a call and I hear him hang up the phone and scream. "CAPITAL RECORDS WANTS TO SIGN ME!" We all scream and jump up and down. Adym grabs all of us in a group hug tightly. "Thank you guys, I couldn't have done this without you. Family first." I'm going to remember those words forever and always. This is just the start of Adym Alyxander Yorba. "Sawyer, you're my director, Rebecca, you're the casting director, and Kat." He pauses, "You're mine." He grabs me and kisses me. "Please. I know I have messed up, I know I've done you wrong and I don't deserve any more chances. Can you please do me the honor of being my girlfriend." I look at Rebecca and she seems happy, Sawyer winks at me and I say, "Of course, Ricco." He grabs me and twirls me around in a circle and slowly let's me down. Rebecca speaks up, "I want to let you know Kat that I'm moving in, so I'm putting the apartment up for lease. I'm really sorry." I feel scared and upset only for a second because Adym says, "Do you want to move in?" I look at him and say, "Are you sure?" He replies, "I want you in my life as much as possible." I agree and my fears go away. I guess it's time to move again. Today was a crazy day, and I'm sure tomorrow will be even more wild.

Now, I have to tell Jack everything.
