Yui had woken up again, blinking a few times to clear her vision, Yuki sat on one side of the girl, Yuma the other eating a sugar cube.
"Yuki?" She asks, a little worried and a pique of curiosity why the girl was here.
Yuki turned to look at Yuma without expression. "Would you so kindly leave us for a few minutes, I'd like a private word with Yui-Chan here."Yuma tsked. "Tsk, I'm supposed to be watching over the sow."
Yuki shot him a glare that seemed forced. "If you stay, you'll need to tune out everything and I do mean every word that is said.
If I wanted to kill Yui I would have already done it already and besides you all would have tortured me to death."Yuki had a good point; they would act against her.
Yuma tsked again chewing another sugar-Chan, "That's a clever way to put it, ten minutes and I'll be right back." He disappeared leaving a sugary fragrance behind.
Yuki seemed seemingly distant shifting closer."There's something important that I've been meaning to tell you, and it does concern what I said, about why I can't feel emotions, but I want you to promise not to tell them."
To send Yuma away it must be a serious.
" I won't tell anyone... whatever it is I'm here... to accept and listen. But I want to know, was it the apocalypse? "
I ask, Yuki wearing an emotionless mask yet faced me without avoiding eye contact, she pulled her knees against her chest.
"No. This is something that's never been spoken outside my family, incredibly private about a secret I've lived with for two months."
Yuki seems unsure whether to confide, I stretched a hand touching her ankle, she glanced down. "Did your family do something to you?" I ask only to get a forced smile, and a head shake. "Nm... it wasn't them, Yui-chan." Was Yuki struggling to even express for my sake. If not her family, what could be so bad she hardly reacts. So, it must go further back even before this. 9 minutes left.
"What happened two months ago?" Yui asks softly, she sighed back leaning against the couch.
"Do you remember a rumour that I went to hospital for an x-ray?" I think so that Yuki mentioned it, I thought it was superstition someone made up to make her look bad.
" I heard it from a group of students in class. They had theories why you were going to hospital, but no one could come up with what it was. by any chance, does it have to do with the painkillers you carried on your person before coming here?"
Close, it must be even more complicated for Yuki to explain.
"It does, more than you know. the rumour is true. It was something I'll never forget, the day I went dead inside."
Lowering her voice as if not wanting the vampires to overhear, it must be bad news."What really happened?" Yui spoke softly not wanting Yuki to close off, nodding Yuki told me.
"One weekend the entire family were having an evening tea together out under the gazebo. I decided to go for a stroll outside the grounds with Miko talking about an upcoming exam when..."
Miko's must be the older sister.
".. When I saw a bat appear from nowhere in broad daylight... I strongly reacted in fright causing my heart to sharply ache. it hurt so much I passed out. But by the time I came to. my emotions had literally shut off. I cried because I could not feel emotions. My sister called an ambulance rushing me to hospital to be checked out." Purple/blue eyed girl was shaking as she remembered.
"The x-ray was a fluke?" Yui patted to the girl's ankle comforting, almost in disbelief but sad hearing a good person like Yuki I could only imagine it must have been a terrible ordeal.
"It wasn't. The doctor called us into a private room with the results. grim look meant good and bad news. This is how he explained."
Yuki closes her eyes eyebrow furrowed. "'According to the x-ray it seems Yuki's heart is failing. Bad news the first stage is evident, her emotions have shut down. Every second day your daughter will need to take these painkillers to ensure her heart remains stable, and if she doesn't have the operation in two months' time I hate to say but her heart will completely fail and she'll die. '" Yuki took a few deep breaths.
6 minutes left.
Oh, Yuki then that means you are running out of time too.
"' Good news, your daughter will need a heart transplant and if a donor agrees. If it goes well, Yuki will be back to good health. I've booked in advance; it'll be in two months and by then a donor should be secured.' It was approved by myself with my family backing my decision with their support. "
I felt tears pour down my cheeks seeing why Yuki would be uncomfortable about the subject, but sharing this with me, a person she barely knew takes a lot of guts.
"Oh Yuki. I had no idea... wait, two months." If this happened two months ago around the time the Mukamis showed up. does that mean this month?
Yuki nodded at Yui's silent question. "No one would have predicted that an apocalypse would happen. My father was funding a team of scientists that were working on a medicine to help hospital patients develop stronger immune systems against viruses."
Yui gasped in surprise.
