  ZOEY'S PERSPECTIVE

... I could feel my bones compacting, my nose growing into a beak and my arms growing feathers and expanding, they grew to the wingspan of a foot long as I nosedived through the air almost touching the forest floor as I suddenly soared up gaining speed as I rose above the tree line and into the
sky turning it into a spiraling dive back down to the forest floor. I sweep drawing my wings ever so slightly closer towards me to land in a neat position on the red haired girl's shoulder. She looked at me in awe. If I could look at myself that way I definitely would have. I just went from plummeting to my death to riding the wind and acceleration with ease. I looked down I no longer had feet but instead the twig foot of a bird. A I picked my way down her shoulder I wondered how this happened. I'm just a normal human. And in all of the books that I've read about humans and all the things that I've seen from them, they can't do this. I start to get uncomfortable. I hop off her shoulder and glide to the forest floor.
