Well that came out of Nowhere

Why did this have to keep happening? Injuries were to be expected in the line of work hunters chose. However, most hunters didn't have the abilities Lani had. The healing wasn't even the biggest problem. The real issue was not being able to die. Not dying made it hard to get professional help when it was needed.

A hospital in Milford Iowa was not where Lani expected to be waking up. The home of some kind stranger, maybe, but that was rare. It was more likely she would wake in the place she blacked out. Although that wouldn't have ended well for her at all. The last thing she remembered was a world surrounded by fire and pain. Oh, and John Winchester had been there. Odd.
The infamous John Winchester. She had expected him to to run, however she hadn't expected his sons to be watching over her.

"What are you?! A shapeshifter? Or a werewolf? A demon?"

"Dean calm down."

"Yeah what he said." Lani rasped, her throat soar from recently having a breathing tube taken out. Dean grumpily glared at everyone in the room, making sure everyone knew how bad this could be.
Sam was taking this strange occurrence much better than his older brother. While Sam sat as calmly as he could in the chair in the corner of the too white room, Dean paced back and forth tracking dirt and blood on the pristine tile floors. His hands waved wildly as he spoke and his body was so tense even a knife would bounce off him. So while Dean reacted as a sane(ish) person should, Sam just stared in awe at Lani as if she were some sort of magical being.

"You hush unless we ask you something. Sam, people who aren't Disney princesses don't just wake up from near death circumstances. Injuries like that don't just--"

"You wanna run that by me again?" Lani challenged. She may be beaten and weak but sharp wit and spirit cannot easily rest. Sam had to resist the urge to chuckle even though he too was feeling a bit betrayed by his supposed friend's abilities. Worry trumped anger right now.

"We saved your bacon little lady so you are the one that owes us an explanation." The stare down between the two hunters felt more like two siblings fighting. However, the noise coming from the two of them drew more attention than needed.

"I would have been fine!"

"Yeah, in a situation like that...?!"

"Dean I'm not some helpless kid!"

"You could have fooled me! Who in their right mind goes after a demon on their own?!"

"Lani! Play dead!" When the silence fell in the room Lani too heard the heavy footsteps of a group of people heading toward their room. Lani fell motionless in her bed and calmed her heart beat just in time. The doctor that treated her along with three nurses poked their heads in the room and gave the three a concerned glance.

"Everything okay in here gentlemen? Some other patients complained about some shouting."  Dean and Sam glanced at each other, varying expressions on their faces.

"We're fine doc, just um... working out some problems." With some fake smiles and a cheesy thumbs up from Dean the doctor bought the ruse, but he didn't leave.

"Well, in the future try to be less obnoxious. Now you don't mind if I run a few tests on her blood do you? She seems to have made more progress since I've checked and that was only an hour ago." The brothers were amazed that Lani managed to keep her heart rate and breathing at a normal speed. She didn't even flinch when a the three female nurses prodded at her bandages.

"Are you sure that's a good idea?" Sam asked, his voice laced with a tinge of panic. "You told us when we arrived that she needed a while to make up for blood loss?" The doctor sighed and pulled out a needle.
