Chapter 12

Eleonora

Graduation had come and went by quickly. I was officially going to attend UBC and I was really excited. It was the middle of July when ma came home early.

I am sitting in my studio, recording a violin part. The showcase had been pushed back a few weeks because of some troubles with the location and organisation. I didn't really mind, I had another two weeks to perfect the song for the showcase. Suddenly I hear a knock. I open and see ma. "Come in." I say as I put my violin on the standard next to my desk. She smiles as she sees what I made of my studio. "Everything okay?" I ask and she smiles. "I am fine, there is just something I want to ask." She says and I look at her. "Next week is all kinds of scenes with just the Charmings and Hook and Neal, so I have the week off and I am flying to Burbank to visit your auntie Deena and grandmother, and I was wondering if you wanted to come too?" She asks and I look at her hopeful. "I would love to." I exclaim and she smiles. "Then I'll book a second ticket for you. We'll leave tomorrow morning and return Saturday night." She says and I nod, as I get up to quickly start packing for the trip to Burbank.

I wake up by a gentle touch that only can belong to ma. I open my eyes and look around sleepily. "Come baby girl, we have to get up. We gotta leave in 30 minutes." She says and I nod as I throw on my tee and skinny jeans, putting on my boots and going downstairs with my bag. Ma smiles as she hands me a bowl of cereal and I gratefully take it. I grab my phone and earphones and look at the time. "Ma?" I ask and she looks at me. "Why on earth do we have to take a flight that requires us to wake up at 5.30am?" I ask and she laughs. "That is because we'll land around 9 there, and your grandmother was really anxious to see you again after over 18 years and probably got 18 years' worth of gifts at her place for you to take back home." She explains and I laugh. "I can't wait to meet her." I say and she smiles. We get in the car around 5:45, are at the airport a little after 6 and we are completely boarded just before 7 and take off a little after 7. Ma and I are both sitting in the first class seats in the front, listening to music. I smile as I look outside and see the many mountains.

Apparently I fell asleep, because I wake with ma shaking me awake. "Baby girl, we are almost going to land." She says as I wake up and quickly fasten my seatbelt. About 20 minutes later I walk out with ma to the area where family and friends can pick up their loved ones. Immediately Lana runs off to an elderly woman and Deena, hugging them tightly. I walk over shyly and wait for them to finish their moment. Lana must have realised my awkwardness as she stops and turns to me. "Momma, this is your granddaughter Eleonora." She introduces me and immediately she is hugging me. "Bambina." She whispers softly as she hugs me. I hug her back. "Grammie." I say softly and she chuckles. "How have you been?" She asks and I smile. "I've never been better now I am here." I say softly and she smiles as she drags me to the car, Lana and Deena trailing behind us. They seem a little tense, but I focus on Grammie as she gets behind the steering wheel and tells me to sit next to her. I smile as I sit next to her and ma climbs in the back with Deena. "It is warm here." I note and Lana smiles. "Yeah, that is the amazing thing about this place, it is always good weather." She says and I smile. Grammie drops Lana and Deena off at home and commands me to wait in the car. She returns mere minutes later and gets in the car. "Where are we going?" I ask and she smiles. "Well, Lana told me about your passion for streaming and I might have checked your livestreams, and found out you like League of Legends. So me trying to be a good grandmother I bought you tickets for the NALCS today." She says and I look at her. "Grammie, you shouldn't have." I say in a really happy voice and she smiles as we make our way to the LCS. We spend the way talking and having fun, and at the LCS she buys me a Teemo hat and Amumu plush, so I have them. We walk into the big studio and I look around in wonder, but Grammie walks to a security guy and shows him her tickets, and he nods, leading us to a separate area. "Grammie, why are we behind the scenes?" I ask and she smiles as she leads me past a dozen of dressing rooms, all to the casting balcony. "Sam!" She says in a happy and font way as she hugs the caster, Kobe. I look at them as they hug and stand there. "-And this is my granddaughter Nora, I talk about all the time." She introduces me and I shake his hand. "Welcome to the NALCS. Dolores never stops talking about you, ever since she found out your mother found you." He tells me and I blush. "Want a tour before we start in 20?" He asks and I nod with a happy face as he gives me a tour.

After Grammie and I had our tour and watched the LCS, we went to get some dinner at Subway and then started our 3 hour drive home. Once home, all we heard was yelling and screaming. I walk in with my new goodies, only to see Lana and Deena fight. Grammie is still in the car and they didn't hear me enter. "-AND HOW DARE YOU SAY I SHOULD FORCE HER TO COME TO UCLA?" Lana yells on top of her lungs and I remain silent. "BECAUSE SHE IS MAKING A MISTAKE GOING TO UBC, WE CAN GIVE HER SO MANY MORE CHANCES AT THE UCLA." Deena screams in return and Lana explodes at that. "IF SHE WANTS UBC, SHE'LL GO THERE, AND SHE IS NOT MAKING A MISTAKE." Ma yells and Deena just reacts harshly. "Oh yeah, I forgot you put that mistake on the world. If she makes a mistake, it is only because she was the worst mistake ever." She hisses and I drop my bags on the ground, and they turn to face me, Deena realising what she has said. I storm out of the house, sprinting past Grammie and jumping over the low fence, running through busy Burbank. Ma tries to chase me but I am too quick. I end up god knows where. I don't have my phone on me, only $10 so I decide to head to the 24 hour store I see and get a bottle of water and a bag of sour candy. I stroll around the city until I find a park where I sit down on a bench. I feel alone, and like a mistake. Maybe Deena was right. I mean I was a mistake after all, since Lana gave me up. Suddenly an elderly woman sits down next to me. "Are you okay?" She asks and I shrug. "I'll be." I say gently and she looks at me. "But something is bothering." She says and I nod. "Yeah, I just found my mother after 18 years and just heard what her family thinks of me." I say softly and the woman looks at me, worried. "Chld, are you okay?" She asks as I wipe tears away. I shake my head and start crying, while she tries to comfort me. "You know what? Do you know the address?" She asks and I shake my head. "I only know it is one of the outskirts. It is a pretty quiet area for a city with well-kept houses." I say and suddenly the woman smiles as she stands up. "I think I know where." She says as she walks over to this big map in the middle of the park and points at a direction. "Take a cab here, the driver will know where." She says and I shrug. "I only got 8.30$ left, so I'll take a bus." I say and she nods. She waves me goodbye as she walks away. I start strolling as I hear my name being called. I turn and I see Deena, and immediately I start sprinting again, this time I used all my speed to run. I dodged cars and motors, jumped over a couple of fences, getting lost the more I ran. At one point I found myself near the highway. I just say in the bushes and sigh. I am scared, scared that Deena is right and ma just started to realise I am a big mistake. Suddenly I see a police car pull over and I sigh in defeat as they near me. "Miss? Are you okay?" The female officer asks and I look at her. "Yeah, just scared. I'll be okay. I just need to walk back to the outskirts of town." I say and the male officer grabs his radio and starts to describe me. "Looks like we found Parrilla's daughter." He suddenly says to the female and she nods. "Come, we got your mother waiting for you back home." She says in a friendly tone as I get up and follow her. "I'm officer Williams and my partner over there is officer McGifflin, we'll get you home. Are you hurt?" She asks and I shake my head. "Just tired." I say and she smiles, as she helps me in the back. "It will be another hour before we reach home, so I suggest you take a nap." She says as I fasten my seatbelt. I nod and within mere seconds I am sound asleep.

I wake up with the car stopping and the gentle voice of officer William talking to someone while McGifflin wakes me up. I look around confused before getting out the car, and before I can take in my surroundings, a body crashes into mine and I hear someone cry. A better look shows my ma, as she holds me and violent sobs go through her body, I hug her back. "She is okay, just tired. I suggest giving her a good night's rest and she'll be totally fine." The officers say before they leave. I feel ma's arm loosen and I walk past her, ignoring Deena and walking straight up to a guestroom where I see my bag, I lock the door and drop on the bed, my eyes closing before my body hits the bed.
