Chapter 7

Eleonora

It was early when I was woken by Lana. I was completely sleep drunk but Lana's happy face made me sit up. "Emma brought in a letter from UBC." She says and hands me the ivory white paper. I smile as I open it hastily and read the letter. "I'M ACCEPTED!" I exclaim and Lana hugs me tight. Patrick walks in with a sleepy look I sported just a few minutes ago and looks at me. "I am accepted into the University of British Colombia." I say and he starts to wake up. "You kidding me?" He asks and runs to me to pull me in a hug. I smile and I rise. "Is Emma still here?" I ask Lana and she nods. I sprint down the stairs in my top and underwear and hug Emma as I see her sitting at our breakfast bar. "I got accepted mom." I say happily and she looks at me. "Seriously?" She asks and I nod, and she pulls me in a tight hug. "This calls for celebration." Lana says from behind me and I turn to her. "What do you have in mind?" I ask and Lana and Emma share a knowing look. "Well a little birdy told us you had prom next week and still no dress. So, Lana was nice enough to offer to pay for the dress and we are going dress shopping for your prom." Emma explains and I look at them. "Seriously?" I ask them and they nod.

And so I find myself in a dress store about an hour later, after a big breakfast. As I look around, my eye falls on a beautiful navy dress, and I grab it. Lana is behind me within a second and looks at it. "It does scream you." She says and I look at her. "I don't really like dark blue." I say and she smiles. "Just fit it on. Emma and I will look for some others." Lana says and I nod, as I walk to the dressing room and fit it on. I look at myself in the mirror and smile. "Well?" Mom asks and I walk out and I see the smiles on their face. "She is so pretty." Mom says to Lana and Lana nods as she lets out a tear. "Remind me to not go dress shopping with you two." I say and roll my eyes and Lana laughs. "You have a boyfriend?" She asks and I shake my head. "I don't even like boys, I am more into girls. And my last girlfriend broke up with me last January." I say and Lana smiles. "You'll get a girlfriend when the time is right." She says and hugs me tightly. I hug her back and then walk over to mom. "What do you think of this?" I ask her, pointing at my dress. Mom smiles and tucks a strand of my hair behind my ear. "You look beautiful." She says and I smile. Lana suddenly runs to her purse and grabs her phone. "Hey Riawna... Yeah I know you are busy but could you check for that necklace I wear back in season 1? Yeah, the one with the tree." She says and I look at mom, who is equally confused as I am. "Yeah, can I borrow it next week? I promise to return it as soon as I can." She keeps talking and then closes the call. "I got the perfect necklace." Lana says and I look at her as she is busy on her phone, only to show me a beautiful golden tree necklace and I look at her. "You wore that?" I ask and Lana nods. "How did you even get it?" I ask in shock Lana starts to smile. "Riawna, she does our hair, is good friends with the people at the creative department where they make jewellery and goods for the show and she got them to lend me the necklace." She explains and I smile. I change back quickly to my normal clothes and take the dress back to mom and Lana. Lana and mom walk to the cashier to pay for it while I check my phone. Multiple texts from Max and Jace, all panicky about something. "Mom, Lana?" I ask and they look at me. "Would you mind dropping me off at Max's place? Something is wrong between him and Jace." I say and Lana smiles. "Of course we don't mind baby girl." She says and I smile as she hands me the big plastic bag with the dress in it.

About twenty minutes later I arrive at Max's place and walk in. "Max? Jace? It's me, Nora." I say and I see Max with a tear stained face passed out on the table with a bottle of beer next to him. As I look around, the place is a mess and all Jace's stuff is missing. I lift Max to the couch and start cleaning his apartment while I try to ring Jace, who is ignoring all my calls. I sigh as I walk to the kitchen to clean the mess with broken plates, mugs and bowls. In the middle of cleaning it, I am stopped by soft hands. "Let it be, me and Jace made this mess, you don't have to clean it." Max says in a sad tone and I pull him in for a hug. "What happened?" I ask and Max sighs. "We got in an argument about your birth mother. And then Jace told me I was as bad as Emma, because I could only bear love for someone I saw as a baby sister, you, and then he start to grab his stuff and left." Max says and the tears start to form in his eyes. "Why would Jace say that?" I ask in shock and Max bites his lip. "He asked me to marry him and I turned him down." Max says and I look at him in shock. "You did what!?" I ask and he sighs. "I know, I am stupid, but I just thought we were too young to get engaged." Max says and I sigh. "I'm gonna find Jace." I say and a third voice tunes in. "You won't have to, he is at my place." Sabine says and I look at her as I see the hatred in her eyes. "Sometimes you can be such an asshole, and I am not going to prom with Jace if you are going." She hisses and I sigh. "Guys, calm do-..." I start but Max throws a punch at Sabine, who is way too eager to return the punch and soon they are fighting. I jump in between them and take quite a few punches myself, mostly to my legs and stomach, before they stop. "Will you stop and let Max and Jace fight this battle?" I ask Sabine pissed and she looks at me, her eyes flaming. "I will not if you fight for Max." She says and walks out. I stare defeated at her back and sit down before shooting up as a sting goes through my left leg. "You're bleeding." Max says and I look at my leg and sigh. "Do you have some of those cotton balls and disinfect?" I ask and Max runs to grab them as I look at where there trickles some blood down my leg. Must've been the killer heels Sabine wore. Max returns and I disinfect the wound. "Band-Aid." I say and Max hands me one. I smile as I put it on and then stand up again. "I'm going home. Let me know how things go." I say and grab my purse to catch the first available free taxi.

I arrive at the flat where I live with mom and dad. I didn't feel like going back to Lana. I am in the elevator as my phone starts ringing. I pick up. "You, stay away from Max." The voice says and I sigh. "I am not really interested in dating one of my best friends thank you very much." I say to the other person and I hear the sigh. "I mean as a friend, you are only bad news for him and Jace." The voice says and I start to laugh. "Go mess with someone else." I say as I close the call. I get in the apartment and walk up to my room, close and lock the door and grab my violin. I start playing a few notes and then decide to play Elements. I know I shouldn't, but I had a bad day and thus I will allow myself.

As I start playing the notes, my feet start moving and soon I am just in the music. My room is a blur of black and red, the bed is nothing more than a dot and the other things in my room are just things. I keep dancing, ignoring the sounds outside my door. I hear yelling, but the words just don't translate to something I can hear. All is just a magnificent blur in my mind. I keep dancing, even when dad kicks the door in, when mom starts yelling and when Claire is just frozen in place. I ignore Dan's worried tone while he dials someone and I keep playing until the song is finished and I stop. I look at the faces in front of me and shrug. "I was just enjoying myself, jezus." I say and I see something change in dad. "We were worried, worried you were going down again." He says and I turn to him, furiously. "Just because everything ended badly with Avery, doesn't mean I am again going to drug me out and take too much alcohol dad. I want to get over bad things too." I hiss and I see him being not pleased with my answer. "Get out of my house, go to your real mother." He hisses and I hear everyone behind me yell at him pissed off. "Gladly." I hiss back and put my violin in her case, signal Dan to help me with my PC and then put all my clothes and bedsheets in the bags I have left. What little make up I own I put in a paper back and walk to the garage, and open the trunk to dump all my stuff and I let Dan put my PC and screen between the driver seat and the backseat and then give my sister and brother a last hug. "Will you come back?" Claire asks and I shake my head. "I should've left when I turned 18, it is just my time to leave." I say and she nods. "We'll bring over your chair and desk later." Dan says and I smile. "I look forward to it." I say and hand them my house keys. "Open the door for me to drive out?" I ask Dan and he nods. I get in and start the car, driving towards the exit. I wave goodbye to my siblings and to mom, before I disappear.

Half an hour later I pull up at Lana and Fred's place and knock on the door. Fred opens, since Lana is filming in Steveston. "Hey, what's up?" He asks and I look at the ground. "I was wondering if I could move in permanently?" I ask softly and he looks at me. "They kicked you out?" He asks and I look up. "No, mom wanted to keep me there, Theo kicked me out because I was playing Elements, and he got all worried about me and then when everything was okay he got mad and kicked me out and..." I keep rambling and Fred pulls me in for a hug. "Boys, we need to help Eleonora unload her car!" He yells and soon Patrick and Matt are unloading my car with my help and Fred. We move everything to my room and I sigh. "No more recording and twirling in my room." I say softly nut Fred catches it. "You had a studio there?" He asks and I nod. "I used it to stream my games and record pieces we would use at school with the freshman and sophomore." I say and he smiles. "I'll talk to Lana later, maybe we can turn the shed into a living area for you?" He asks and I smile. "Only if she agrees." I say and he smiles. "She loves you, we all do." He whispers as I give him a hug.
