--------------------------------------------------------------

Seven in the evening, and I, Natalie and Jared were at my apartment flat waiting for Vincent. He had texted me as soon as he had landed on LA, and was now on the way to my place.

The laundry was done, new grocery supplies filled my cupboards, sheets were changed and the place looked proper. Honestly, coming back from office, I'd usually be so tired that the idea of doing the chores would drown into the sea of want for sleep. Hence, it'd be either me or Natalie who would do the cooking at either of our places, we'd eat together, most days accompanied by Jared, and then crash on our respective beds and go off to sleep. Except for the days when the other guys and girls were around. Those days, sleep was replaced by craziness.

It'd been so many days since I had last seen Vincent. I closed my eyes and tried to remember him the way I last saw him. The frail kid with blue eyes and blackish brown hair. His soft smooth skin, and the way his adam's apple bobbed up and down whenever he spoke in his smooth male voice. The way he lowered his voice into convincing you to do something. His cheeky grin...

I wondered how much he could have changed in these five years. The last time I went to visit my parents, he had been on a work trip to Europe. I myself had been living in Europe back then. I felt relieved that I didn't have to meet him that visit. I just couldn't bring myself to meet him. Not after whatever had happened between us.

Jared and Natalie sat on one of my couches cuddling with each other. Every time i saw them together, it always felt so good to see her happy with Jared. Jared felt like the one for her. A match made in heaven. Natalie had deserved all the good in this world because of who she was, her personality, her way of seeing others and life. And happiness came to her in the form of Jared Saunders.

As I was absorbed in my thoughts, the bell rang. Adrenaline rushed through my entire body. My breathing fastened and in two steps, I reached the front door. This was it. Vincent Reed was standing outside my door at Los Angeles. THE Vincent Reed I had last seen five years ago. Sure I had been mad at him. But he was here. At my door.

I opened the door to reveal a guy with a well-built body, the familiar blue eyes sparkling, his face cut out with a perfect jawline.

This guy looked hotter than I last remembered him.

"Hey" he gave me his signature cheeky grin.

And I be damned if I ever forgot the cute light dimple that fell on his left cheek.

"Vincent.." I half-whispered

"Ashley" he smiled.

Then I don't know what happened, but we hugged. A light hug, which said I hadn't completely forgiven him yet for whatever had happened.

As we left each other he raised an eyebrow and said,"can I come in?"

I nodded.

Once he was in, I introduced him to Jared and Natalie. He took one of the additional bedrooms and Natalie gave him her spare key to my apartment.

At eight, we sat down for dinner. The flight had made Vincent hungry and sleepy. He wanted to crash as soon as possible.

"So, what did you do before coming to LA?" Jared asked him

"I was in a software development company in New York. Wasn't really interested though"

"So what do you want to do here in LA?" Natalie asked

"Thinking of starting modeling. Or maybe photography"

"There are some fashion firms that might" Jared said and looked at me.

Yes, I did work in a fashion firm. But there was no way I would want Vincent in the same firm as me. Not now at least.

Vincent took another bite into his lasagna,"Yeah, that's exactly why I'm here. Also, I have some unfinished business that I want to complete" he looked at me. His blue eyes devouring into me.

I shrugged,"maybe you should concentrate on finding work first. You see, unemployment isn't exactly the goal of our economy"

Natalie sensed the tension between us and gave a nervous laugh,"like a true economic consultant"

Vincent ignored the comment and turned to Jared,"So you live over here?"

"Nope. Natalie lives opposite to this place. I have my own apartment just a few blocks away."

"Oh. So technically Ashley lives alone"

"Yes" I answered before Jared could.

What point was he trying to make?

The rest of dinner went on pretty normal. Vincent asked about the place, his opportunities, life, what we did on weekends and other stuff.

Speaking of what we did on weekends,

Jared asked him to join us on Saturday at Mason and his place to hangout.

Great! Just great!
