A few months past and I hid around the castle the best I could, keeping away from Snape and often going to visit with Slughorn in the evenings and often staying late into the night. I slipped further into unhappiness, feeling a burning ache in my body for my babies that seemed to grow stronger with each passing day, sometimes it was so strong I would cry. I was in correspondence with no-one, although I suspected that they had been writing to me, but Snape was stopping my owls. They would be certain I was dead by now.

The date was the 21st of December and the ache for my babies and Fred was so strong that every now and again I had to stop and take a few deep breaths. Bramble told me that most of the students had gone home for the Holidays now. I wandered the barren hallways that were unadorned, so unlike they usual were at Christmas. Sometimes I found myself in the Library, surrounded by the dusty volumes. It was here, on this date, that I found the book that would be my salvation.

'Wandleff Magyk for the Moft Advanced Wizardf'

I stole it away from the Library and began to devour every word within its musty, crackling pages.

A few days later, on the 23rd, I experienced something I'd hoped never to experience ever again. I was snatched.

I had been roaming a long, empty corridor that would have been filled with students if there'd been any left. That's when I felt a hand over my mouth and an arm around my waist, dragging me into the shadows. I fought, but froze when I felt the tip of a wand in the small of my back. There were many hands holding me to the wall tying my hands behind my back and a gag in my mouth. Then a couple of wand tips lit and I could see my assailants. Nevil, Luna, Ginny and Seamus. My eyes widened in surprise and they all looked at each other nervously.

"Come on," said Nevil, their leader, "let's get her up to the office. We saw Snape leave, so it'll be safe."

I made an indistinct voice through my gag as they pulled me along up to the entrance of the spiral staircase. They all turned on me then.

"When we take off your gag," said Nevil, "we want you to say the password to the Gargoyle. If you don't, you'll be out cold before you even hit the ground, got it?"

I nodded. They were trying to get the Sword of Gryffindor. The untied the gag and I pulled saliva into my mouth so I could speak.

"Overlord," I rasped, hoping desperatly that Snape hadn't changed the password.

It leaped to the side and we all stepped onto the stairs that began to cork-screw upwards. Seamus held onto my arm to my right in a death grip. I turned my eyes to him and we locked gazes.

"Seamus, it's me," I whispered, barely moving my lips, "I left the books for you. I told you I was here, in the Castle. Here I am. Please, Seamus."

His brow furrowed, his eyes widening,

"Caramela?" he murmured.

I nodded.

"But you're Snape's- Ugh," he said, disgusted.

"No, I''m not," I murmured, "I'm being held against my will. I can't escape."

He looked at me doubtfully.

"Seamus Finigan," I growled, "I have better taste than that, you are evidence of that."

"What, that you have better taste than to be with me?" he demanded, his voice raising.

"I didn't say that," I hissed back, "I mean that I had good enough taste to even choose you."

We were glowering at each other and the staircase jolted to a halt. They forced me in first, in case Snape had come back, but he hadn't. We all gathered around the sword, suspended in its elaborate glass and wood casing. They made me open it, in case there was an enchantment that meant they couldn't, or perhaps an enchantment that meant they couldn't, or perhaps a curse. I took out the Sword and and handed it over to Nevil, Ginny had her wand at the base of my spine. We were halfway back to the door when Snape appeared in it, blocking our way. There was utter turmoil and betrayal on his face when he saw I was with the rebels. But that changed when Nevil spoke next.
