Angel: kotakitty had a question and I'm here to answer it in the way I usually do! Through an interview! Here with me today is the ever so famous Pocahontas.

Pocahontas: Hello, my old friend.

Angel: Hey. Thanks for agreeing to come! kotakitty wants to know: What was your real name? In all honesty, I'm a bit curious myself!

Pocahontas: As a Powhatan, it is common for us to have many personal names. We have more than one name at the same time, have secret names that only a select few know, and we change our names on important occasions. They have different meanings and are usually used in different contexts.

Angel: Wow. That must be really confusing at times.

Pocahontas: Perhaps. But we grow used to it as the seasons change.

Angel: What are your names?

Pocahontas: I will tell you my secret name first, because I trust you as family.

Angel: Aw! Thanks!

Pocahontas: To select few, I am known as Matoaka. It means 'bright stream between the hills' and I do not usually hear it among my father's people. I am also known as Amonute and some claim that my real name is Matoax.

Angel: Is it?

Pocahontas: That is for you to decide. Of course, the name 'Pocahontas' is but a childhood nickname because of how much I loved to play.

Angel: Then what do the Brits call you?

Pocahontas: The Englishmen? They did not know how to say these names, so I renamed myself Rebecca once I married John Rolfe.

Angel: Don't say his name. I still think you should've gone with John Smith.

Pocahontas: Say what you wish.

Angel: Well, duty calls, so I have to go. But thanks for coming. I'll see you later?

Pocahontas: Until you become sick of me.

Angel: Goodbye!
