We're not done talking, Bailey

‘Yeah, we are, asshat.’ Bailey thought just as another message came into her screen.

From: Joe
Baby, please text me back.

She scoffed, softly. She couldn't believe that he actually expected her to want to talk to him after what happened.

You can't ignore me forever

Bailey rolled her eyes as she threw her phone back on her desk. She had only left home an hour ago and since then, she has gotten over fifteen messages from him. She might have left home extremely upset, but she knew to not let it interfere in her work.

“Bailey.” She looked up from her phone and to her boss, who was standing over her desk, “Your one o'clock had been waiting by the weights for ten minutes.”

She sent him an apologetic smile as she put her phone on silent, “I'm sorry, Derek, I'll be over there right now.”

Bailey immediately stood up from her chair and grabbed her trainee’s folder before making her way over to her appointment.

Joe was put to the back of her mind as she clearly didn't want to let his mistakes getting in the way of her job.

An hour and a half later, Bailey was making her way back to her desk. Her brown hair was now up in a ponytail.

“Bailey your phone kept lighting up.”

Bailey rolled her eyes but smiled at her co-worker regardless. She didn't understand when Joe was going to get that she wasn't going to talk to him.

She clicked the home button, watching as her phone screen lit up with multiple notifications. Her eyes immediately feel on the six missed calls from Ryder’s daycare as well as a voicemail.

She immediately clicked on the voicemail, bringing the phone to her ear.

“Hi, Ms. Maxwell, it's Ms. Sara from Ryder’s daycare. I'm calling to tell you that Ryder hasn't stopped crying since you dropped him off an hour ago. We have tried absolutely everything and he just won't calm down, so I was wondering if you could stop by really quick to calm him?”

Bailey pulled the phone away from her ear, not thinking twice before grabbing her jacket and bag.

“Tell, Derek I'll be back in an hour.” Bailey called out as she walked towards the exit.

Bailey entered the daycare, clearly out of breath. She had basically sprinted down the four blocks, upset that she had missed the call in the first place.
