A loud scream echoed throughout the plain as the sun finally rose. It was a loud and deafening scream that hurt my ears. It was so loud that it shook the ground.

Nico turned to ask me something but I didn't hear it. It was over-powered by the loud scream.

Soon enough, the eardrum-shattering scream stopped and everything was still. Struggling, I got to my feet with the use of my sword. Nico helped Will up and we all turned around to see a mini van parked by the sidewalk.

Out came a middle-aged man wearing a  black leather jacket and some tight jeans. He looks as if he's a dad who's trying his best to look young but seemed to have failed miserably.

He gave us a smile that faded when he came across the corpse on the ground. "Holy- Why do people tend to destroy such a beautiful morning with such a tragedy?"

"Helios?" I asked, fighting the urge to raise my hand since he reminded me so much of my Biology teacher.

"You're pretty smart. Some kids mistake me for Apollo. Hah! Only I can be this hot." He grinned.

Will looked as if he was about to gag. Nico tried his best not to smile only to end up smirking.

"I see you covered for Apollo today." Hecate walked towards us with her arms crossed. She seemed to have maintained her form for some reason.

"I see you're no longer a cat." Helios joked. Hecate rolled her eyes.

"How r-"

"Um... Excuse me but, what are we to do now?" Will interfered before Hecate could finish whatever she was saying.

The goddess regained her composure and turned to us. "The mist has not been fully restored but I believe that the half of it has.

I can somehow make the mortals feel as if all they've seen was just a fabric of imagination or whatever else they might believe. However, it is not enough to make the effect controllable. The mist is still hazy. One minute they might see a waitress, the next it could appear to them as a saytr."

"If that's the case..." Nico crossed his arms. "How can we fully restore the mist?"

Hecate looked at us with a deathly stare. "Nathan Dire's death had something to do with the mist's restoration. I believe that the spell about the mist's sudden hiatus had something to do with him."

"But if his death restored half of the mist, how can we restore the other half?" Will asked.

"His sister." I spoke with a mellow voice.

"What?"

I turned to all of them. "He has a twin sister. So if the half of the spell involved him, the other half might involve her."

Will looked at me grimly. "Does this mean we have to kill her too?"

I shrugged. "Maybe we can persuade her into reversing the spell herself."

"Maybe..."

I looked at Nathan's lifeless body on the sidewalk. I couldn't help but have a twinge of sadness for him. But then I thought of who else might be sad for Nathan's demise.

His sister.

There was no mistaking that the loud scream earlier must've been from her. Twins usually have telepathic connections.

This means that we have another problem in our hands.

The vengeance of a grieving sister.

"Annabeth!" A voice shouted. I turned around to see Malcolm who had contacted us through the Iris Message.

"Malcolm?" I widened my eyes when I saw his distressed expression. "What's wrong?"

"We need you back at camp right now. All Hades broke lose." He said in a rushed tone.

"What? Why? What happened?" Will chimed in.

"Chiron came back an hour ago with his... Cousins, I think. And the whole camp turned into a battlefield!" Malcolm explained.

"What?!" I exclaimed. "Chiron? How can he hurt the campers? That doesn't seem like something he'll do... Unless..."

Unless he's controlled as well.

"It's so much more horrible than we thought, Annabeth." My half-brother sighed. "Whoever has been controlling everyone is like no one we've ever seen before."

I knitted my eyebrows. This was too much. "What do you propose we do, Malcolm?"

"Ask for help?"

Suddenly, an idea popped out of my head. "Malcolm, listen. We still need to do something to fully restore the mist. However, there is something you must do."

"What is it?"

I took a deep breath before speaking, wanting to make my statement clear. "Contact Camp Jupiter. We're going to ask help from Praetor Reyna herself."

"What?" Will widened his eyes in shock.

"You can't be serious." Malcolm seemed to be shocked as well.

"This isn't just our fight anymore. It's the fight of every demigod. And if it's a fight like that, we need every help that we could get."

"I see." Malcolm sighed. "I'll contact her right after this."

"Okay."

"Stay safe, Annabeth." He told me.

"You too."

The connection disappeared and I found myself taking a deep breath.

From here on out, our quest just became even more difficult. To restore the mist, we must find the daughter of Nyx, Natalie Dire, and plead with her to remove the spell.

Then, we must venture back to Camp Half-Blood to see what has become of our beloved home, depending on whether or not the Romans had helped in pacifying the manipulated campers.

And finally, we must act together to fight against the Lady of Darkness herself, Nyx, so that I can finally see my Seaweed Brain again.

Oh gods, this is a lot to take in. But I'm prepared to do whatever I can for the ones that I love.

Nathan, I will try my best to fulfill your last wish. But if I fail to do so, please forgive me.

But, I am more than prepared to fight. I know that I can win. I can and I will. I will fight for my life, my home, my family, and for my love.

I am Annabeth Chase, the daughter of the goddess of wisdom herself. And I swear of the river Styx that I will end up victorious.
