I sat by the sea waiting for Aril to show up. Everyday at 3pm for an hour Arial would come and talk to me. Only today she was late. I started to worry but that was till she swam to the surface.

"Ariel." I wave and she waved back.

"Hello (Y/n)." She smiled. "How are you today?" She asked. I shrug my shoulders and I go over to her. She reached for my head and pulled out four strands of my (h/c) hair.

"Ow! That hurt!" I yell.

"Sorry. Do you still want to be a mermaid?" She asked.

"Well yeah." I say.

"Ok. Come back here in the morning. And bring cloths." She told me. I was about to ask why but the had already swam away. I got up and walked home.

***Time Skip***

I walk down to the beach early that morning with an extra dress and stuff. I sigh as I didn't see Ariel on the rocks. I look around and see her...with LEGS. I hurry over and shook her awake.

"Ariel! Are you ok!?" I ask. She started moving her hands and arms but I didn't understand any of it. She handed me a small purple vile. "You want me to drink this?" I ask. She shook her head. Yes. "Ok. Here's the cloths you wanted." I say and put them on rock. I drink what ever was in the vile and felt a pain but it soon went. The only thing was I fell to the floor. I looked to see a tail.

"Do we need to take her to Ursel now?" A fish said. Ariel nodded. I pull myself into the water and swam around. "Ariel made a deal that if you became a mermaid you had to do one thing for Ursel." A red crab said.

"Ok. Who's Ursel?" I ask.

"An evil sea witch." The crab said. Soon we ended up at a dark cave and the two left. I swam inside and over to an octopus man. He swam over and I just stud there as he circled me.

"Well I didn't expect you to be so...beautiful." He smiled looking me up and down as I blush. "Your name is (Y/n), right?" I nod and he chuckled. "I took Ariel's voice, not yours love." He grinned.

"You took her voice?" I asked confused.

"Yes. But I would prefer yours." He smiled and moved closer to me. "Now sweetie You here for one reason. You have to get something for me." You looked at him confused. "Only a human can get it, so if you get me this ingredient I'll let you keep tail." He said.

"But I have a tail now. How am I going to get the ingredient." He pulled out a small vial.

"Go on now." I nodded and took the vial. I went to drink it when he stopped me. "Go to the surface first." He smiled. I nodded and walked up to the surface and quickly drank the liquid in the vial. I look down at my wet dress and my legs. I got up not caring about the dress. I look over and saw one of Ursel's tentacles. I walk over and into a small cave. He sat there grinning. He came over and his tentacles wrapped around my waist. "This is what I need you to get for me." He said handing me a small piece of glowing yellow paper. "Its a type of orange flower. I need around 2." I nod and looked at the picture he drew.

"I know where there are some of these. I'll be back ere at the end of the day." I say. He nodded and slipped back into the water. I walked around town and slowly gathered the flowers Ursel needed.

"Well, well." I look over to see (boys name). He lived in the village and we was friends. "Those flowers suit you." He smiled. "Want to get something to eat with me?" He asked. I shook my head, looking over to the setting sun.

"Why not?" He asked.

"I have to be somewhere soon." I say.

"A date?" He asked. I shook my head.

"Just meeting up with someone." I say trying to leave.

"Cant you just give me 5 minutes." He said.

"No. I'm busy." I say when he grabbed my arm tightly. "Let me go." I hiss in pain.

"Hey boy." I look up to see Eric and Ariel. "Let her go this instant."

"Fine." He groaned shoving me slightly to the ground. Eric hurried over and helped me up.

"Are you okay?" He asked I nod and slowly got up. I slip away as they spoke. I hurry to the cave and Ursel came out the water with a vile. He took the flowers and sank back into the water. I drank the liquid quickly and swam down to where he had gone.

"You was late." He said and looked around making a potion.

"I'm sorry. Its because o-"

"I already know." He said stopping and looking at me. He came over and grabbed my waist and pulled me into him. "You did well." He smiled. and his lips captured mine. I melted in his arms and he pulled away slowly. "I want you to go back up and distract Eric from Ariel." He smiled and slipped something round my neck.

"But Ariel's my best friend." I say sadly.

"Well if you don't want you tail. Or me." He smiled backing away. I bit my lip and thought for a second.

"Wait." I sigh. "I'll do it." I say. He came over and cupped my face.

"Good girl." He smiled and kissed me softly.

After 2 days of different attempts here I was. In a wedding dress sat in front of a mirror. I listened to the sound of waves crashing agents the boat.

"For a bride you don't look too happy." I look over to see Ursel. I look away sadly. "Is it about back stabbing Ariel?" He asked. I sigh and nodded. "Come here (Y/n)." I listened to him and went over and he took my hand in his. He smiled and pulled me closer and kissed me softly. I felt a tear run down my face and he pulled away quickly. He just looked at me.

"Why? Why do I have to do this?" I cry. He sadly took my face in his hand and put my head to his. "Please. I don't want to do this." He let me go and slipped into the water. I let out a soft sob and I back away.

I look up at Eric.

"I do." He smiled.

"And you (Y/n) (Y/l/n)?" He asked. I let go of Eric's hands. I shook my head.

"I never wanted this" I say and took off the necklace and smashed it as Ariel climbed on bard. I go over and help her up. I took her hand sadly. "This is the one you should be marrying." I say and go over to the edge. "Now I'll suffer the consequences." I sigh sadly and fall backwards off the boat, Ariel shouting for me. I made impact with the water. I just want to be somewhere I belong. I dont want to be alone anymore. I felt arms engulf me and lips on me. I felt a liquid pushed into my mouth. I open my eyes and saw my tail and Ursel holding me close.

"I love you (Y/n)." He mumbled. I hover over his face and smiled and kissed him hard. He held the back of my head and I smiled into the kiss. I finally had someone to love me.
