adeline pov
"thank you so much," i tell jacob as i get out of the car. he hops on out as well and meets me in front of his car.
"my pleasure," jacob replies with a smile. i pull him in for a quick hug, thanking him.
"do you need a ride home?" he asks.
"i'll text you if i do. i don't know my plans yet," i respond.
"alrighty, bye adeline!" he says getting back in his car. i say a goodbye too and start to walk into school. i notice he hasn't left until i made it into school which i find extremely thoughtful.
i head over to my locker, remembering that i left my earbuds in there and i want to listen to music in class.
as i start to enter in my code, someone comes up to my locker and shuts it right as i open it.
"adeline."
"austin."
austin looks... different. hes dressed a bit more darker and lazily. he has bags under his extremely red eyes and looks paler than usual. he's still a lot taller than me, making me have to look up in order to talk to him with direct eye contact.
"where were you?" he asks angrily, clenching his fists in the process.
"how the hell did you know i was gone?" i defend. was he some sort of stalker now? he sees that i'm not in the mood and loosens his fist, also releasing the angry look he had on his face.
"look, i'm-i'm sorry," he admits. i give him a blank look, trying to see if he's telling the truth in his eyes. but of course i can't bc he can hardly keep his eyes open.
is he high?
i did not want to be caught with him when he was high. nope, nada, no no. i turn around and walk the opposite direction from him, hoping he won't follow in the process.
i rush down to the library since it's my free period. sure as hell hope it's not his.
i get downstairs and to the library, finding a seat away from everyone else and setting my stuff down. i grab my book out of my backpack and turn it in, going to look for a new book to check out.
gazing the shelves, i finally find the 2nd book to the series and check it out.
"adeline?" the librarian asks as she scans my plan-book and book.
"yep," i smile back.
"this will be due in 2 weeks from today," she tells me.
"alright, thank you," i say and walk back to where all my stuff was. i open up my book and read the back cover, seeing what i'm going to discover in this book.
well, that's until i felt my butt vibrate.
'need a ride home?:)'
i smile at asher's text, but then remember what jacob said about him.
adeline, he's you ex's brother. they're related and he might pull the same thing on you like austin did.
jacob can't always tell me what to do though. i feel like i always let him make my decisions, therefore i think it's time to make my own.
'why not?;)'

i head down the parking lot, stopping at the bench like asher told me to do he could pick me up.
i decide to pass time and get on my phone. some games wouldn't hurt.
*honk honk*
i look up to see an asher smiling at me, getting out of his car as well.
"hey there beautiful," he greets as he wraps an arm around me and kissing my forehead. in the meantime, i'm over here blushing like an idiot. i manage to squeak a 'hi' right before he starts chuckling at me.
with his arm still around me, he walks me over to the passenger side of his car and opens the door and take my backpack off of me. i shoot him a smile and hop in as he puts my backpack in the back seat. he heads over to his side and gets in, driving me wherever.
