I walk up onto the stage and look at the audience, my heart beating like a drum. I'm gonna die. then I remember our agreement.
she's going to volunteer for me! I think. I know I sounded like a terrible friend thinking that, but I was going to volunteer for her. Then it happens. She doesn't volunteer.
"Let's have a huge round of applause for Mateo and Riley." Orania says sounding sadder than ever. The crowd cheers and applauds, and I get taken to say my final goodbyes.
"Oh my god, Riley!" My mum sobs as she speaks. "I can't believe it!!"
"Me neither," I say quietly."but I'm going to win," I say, louder this time. "You will see me back here soon. I'm going to win." my mum and dad are called to go. I hug them both, and promise I'll see them soon. Then, in walks Jen.
"Hi!" she's says "I can't believe you were reaped!"
"Me neither," I say sarcastically. "I thought there was some kind of agreement!"
"I'm sorry. But I couldn't go into the arena. I hope you don't mind."
"OF COURSE I MIND!!!" I yell.
"What, you'd rather I go in?"
"No, I'd rather you keep your promises!!!"
"Well I'm sorry I'm not perfect!!" she yells, and storms out. I sit there as she leaves, and am soon escorted to the train. That b*tch
