Normal? Never

Lucy-Lu!" Oliver called.
I've been working at the club for four months now, and I'd like to say Oliver is a good friend. We have a lot of things in common. He's even promised to teach me how to shoot a bow one day, to which I promised to fix his car.
"What?" I asked, turning from the sink where I was cleaning out the glasses.
It was nearly six at night, and Oliver had closed early. He claims it's because it's National Canary Day, but I don't think that's a real thing. Either way, I didn't complain, it got me off early.
"I'm going to have a few rounds at my place with my girl," Oliver grinned, "Care to join us?"
I lifted an eyebrow, "Isn't that a bit of a third wheel?"
"Nah, not if you invite your girlfriend."
I stared at him for a moment. Ultimately, I smiled, "Alright, I've been dying to meet 'The Most Beautiful Woman In The World'"
I made dramatic air quotes as I said that, making Oliver laugh. He had spoken about his girlfriend time and time again, and each time he called her the most beautiful woman in the world. I'd like to meet her and judge that for myself.
"You two'll be good friends," Oliver grinned, "Come on, I'll drive you."
I nodded, putting the final glass up. I followed him out the club and to his convertible. Of the time that I've known him, I don't know which he loves more, his car or his girl. He spoke about both with the same level of love for both.
Oliver slid into the drivers seat while I took the passenger. As he took off, I pulled out my phone and called Clara.
"Hello?" she answered.
I smiled, "Hey, love."
"Lucy, what's going on?"
"A friend and I are having a few drinks," I stated, "Would you care to join us?"
Clara hesitated. I could hear the folding of paper in the background, "I can't, I got held up at work. They extended my shift by two hours."
"What? You already work six hours a day."
"I know, my boss is a jerk."
"Want me to come break you out?" I asked, "I'll bring my hammer."
Clara laughed, "Thanks, but I like the idea of getting paid. Maybe next time?"
"Alright, next time it is."
I hung up the phone and sighed. Oliver glanced at me, "Everything alright?"
"Yeah, she got held up at work."
"Bummer. Guess it'll just be the three of us."
I nodded. We arrived at his place a few minutes later. I had been there once before for the very same thing, except he didn't invite his girlfriend that time. Oliver lead me inside and gestured to the couch, "Sit, I'll get the drinks."
I obeyed. As I sat, I glanced around the room. Pictures hung on the wall, most of Oliver and his family when he was young. One was of him and a young redheaded boy, but he refuses to say who that is. When Oliver returned, I gratefully took the glass.
"Dinah'll be here in a few minutes," Oliver fell onto his armchair, "Meanwhile, let's chat."
"About?"
"I don't know, anything."
I smiled. Oliver and I hadn't known each other very long, but I was proud to call him a friend. He was one of the only two friends I had that weren't superheroes, and one of them was my girlfriend.
"You know, I'm glad you're my friend," I told him, "It's nice having a normal friend."
Oliver hesitated. Something in that hesitation seemed odd to me. Almost as if he were hiding something.
"What do you mean by that?" he asked.
I shrugged, "I don't know, normal. Not a stuck up rich guy who cares more about how much money you have rather than who you are."
"Is that a jab against Bruce Wayne?"
"It's a jab against his friends."
Both of us laughed. Something in Oliver's eyes seemed off since I called him normal. He was hiding something, I could see it. Just my luck, the first friend I have turns out to be a supervillain.
The door opened moments later. I spun around just as Oliver laughed, "There's my pretty bird."
As soon as she rounded the corner, I felt my eyes grow wide. Oliver's girlfriend looked exactly like someone I knew. I recognized her sunshine hair that billowed out like a curtain in the breeze, and her dark grey eyes. Most of all, I recognized that small smile. I could see that face contorting into a sneer as she beat up bad guys, or her mouth releasing a sonic scream.
She moved over to kiss Oliver on the head. I followed her, watching her every move. Even the way she moved was like Black Canary. There was no doubt about it, she was Black Canary.
"Dinah, this is my friend Lucille Brimsey," Oliver introduced, "Lucy, this is my girlfriend Dinah Lance."
"Pleasure," Dinah muttered.
She seemed to recognize me as well, but she didn't know where from. I glanced between Dinah and Oliver, putting two and two together. All of The Justice League and their associates knew Black Canary was dating Green Arrow. That meant, if Dinah was Black Canary, then Oliver was-
"I am such an idiot!" I exclaimed, throwing my head down in my hands.
I could almost hear Oliver lift an eyebrow, "What?"
"Stupid, stupid, stupid!" I exclaimed, hitting my forehead, "Why didn't I see it sooner?"
"I'm confused," Oliver muttered.
"You're Green Arrow, aren't you?"
Both Oliver and Dinah were instantly on alert. Dinah stared down at me, doing her best to intimidate me, though it would never work. Oliver shot up to his feet, "Wha-how did you know?"
"She's Black Canary, and everybody knows Black Canary and Green Arrow are dating," I replied.
Dinah took a step further, "How did you know?"
Her voice was serious. I glanced between the two of them, sighing deeply. Of course, the one time I actually try to have normal friends, they turn out to be superheroes. Just my luck.
"We've worked together before," I stood, "I'm Blitz."
They both stared intently at me. It was Dinah who's eyes widened first, "That's where I know you from."
"Wait, Batgirl's sidekick?" Oliver asked.
I nodded, "Yeah."
"But, you're so much older!"
"People age, Ollie," Dinah muttered.
I rubbed my temples, "the one time I try to have normal friends."
"Nobody's seen you for ages," Dinah added, "We thought you were dead."
I shook my head, "Retired, I'm surprised Batman didn't tell you."
"Wait just a second," Oliver raised his hands, "If you're Blitz, does that mean Bruce Wayne is Batman?"
Dinah and I both stared at him. Most all of The Justice League knew Batman's identity, especially those closest to him.
"Of course," Dinah answered for me.
I glanced at her, "He told you?"
"I caught him without his mask."
"How could you not tell me?" Oliver shouted, "You know I've been dying to know!"
Dinah grinned, "It's fun to watch you cry over it."
"I do not cry!"
I laughed. Bruce would probably kill me for exposing us later, but, for now, it was worth it. Oliver fell back in his chair, defeated. He rubbed his temples, "Is that where all your weird bruises come from? You said you were just clumsy."
"And you said yours were from a botched wrestling match," I replied, "Which, by the way, I didn't believe."
Dinah snorted, "I told him that sounded dumb."
"It does not!"
I giggled. Part of me was upset that the first set of normal friends I tried to have turned out to be superheroes, but another part of me was happy. I liked Oliver well enough, and, of the times I've worked with Dinah, she seemed nice as well. If I had to be friends with any superheroes, I'm glad it's them.
Wait until I tell Barbara.
