Lucy," Barbara tapped my shoulder, "Lucy, you haven't moved for three days."
I groaned. My head was shoved in my pillow and my arms were splayed in every direction. I wanted Barbara to go away, but I also wanted her to stay. I was lonely, but I wanted to be alone. I suppose a first break up can do that to you.
"I don't see anything wrong with that," I grumbled.
Barbara sighed, "It is when you don't even eat. We're all worried about you, Lu."
"By we you mean you."
"No, Dick's worried too," Barbara replied, "Alfred, Jason, Bruce."
"Dick and Alfred I can believe. I bet Bruce and Jason don't even know."
Barbara was silent, telling me I was right. I buried my face deeper in the pillow.
"I don't care anyways," I grumbled, "It's because of them that Clara broke up with me."
"What?"
I jerked my head up to look at her, "It's because of Batman! No, wait, it's because of Blitz! I'm not even doing that anymore, and it still ruins Lucille's life."
"You and I both know, if it were meant to be, that wouldn't be an issue," Barbara replied.
She was right, of course, but I was depressed and didn't want to listen. I shoved my face back in the pillow and grumbled, "I'm going to die old, alone, with a gazillion cats."
"First of all, a gazillion isn't a number," Barbara replied, "Secondly, you won't, you just have to find the right person."
"That's what Dick said, too. And Oliver. And Dinah. Hell, I bet even Bruce would say that, and he's the King of Isolation."
"He has Selina."
"Whom he throws in jail on a regular basis."
Barbara had no reply to that. She simply leaned back in her wheelchair and sighed. I raised my head up and looked her in the eye, "I know you're trying to cheer me up, thank you, but I don't think it's possible."
"Eventually, you'll see, you and Clara just weren't meant to be," Barbara replied, "You'll find someone."
"I sure hope you're right."
