The last chance: ON HOLD

chapter 5

‘Ugh’ I inwardly groaned finally its lunch I’ve made it through half the day, the looks I’ve been getting are horrid.  Every girl I’ve walked by in the hallway has either bumped into me or shot me a death glare.  As for in the classroom it’s pretty much the same thing.

I looked up when I realized I was in the lunch room and ran into someone’s back. I breathed out a sigh of relief when Jacob turned around.  I don’t even want to think about what would have happened if it was some other dude on the foot ball team.

 All day long the guys have been making comments and giving me creepy looks.  “Hey what’s got you all shook up?” Jacob asked me. I had completely forgotten about running in to him.  “Oh sorry it’s just been a long day”.  Just as I said that another guy walked by and whistled at me.  “Ugh, and it just keeps getting longer.” Jacob laughed at my remark then said “c’mon I don’t blame them you do look hot today” with a smirk on his face the whole time.  I could feel my cheeks burn and knew they were red.

 Jacob and I have always been kind of into each other but he is too much of a player for me.  When I looked up at him he was still smirking.  Usually I would brush it off and laugh but not today. Guys have been treating me like this all day and having Jacob act that way towards me pissed me off more.  I wanted to slap that smirk off his face.

 After standing there a moment I felt like I was being stared at and turning around I confirmed my thought. When I looked back up at Jacob I realized what I had just done.  I had just slapped Jacob…in the face…in front of everyone.  I guess this change was really taking effect on me. Looking at Jacob and seeing his shocked face was enough to make me turn around and run out of the school’s cafeteria.

Running down the hall way I heard someone yelling my voice it sounded like Jacobs, he probably wanted to know what had just happened.  I kept running I knew he was going to want a reason and I didn’t have one. At this moment I was confused, shocked and embarrassed all at the same time.  I heard footsteps behind me so I started running faster.  It was no use Jacob had long legs and was a fast runner he caught up to me and grabbed my waist from behind.

  When he turned me around he at first looked amused then worried. He looking worried made me confused, and then I felt it I had started crying without even realizing it.  At first I started wiping away the tears quickly but he grabbed my hands and pulled me to him.  After that the only thing I remember doing is crying my eyes out.

 After a minute or two I remembered we were in the school hallway even though everybody was in the cafeteria I still felt embarrassed. I pulled away from Jacob telling him to come over after school and walked away.

The rest of the day went by pretty fast; I was still getting treated weird by most of the guys and girls.  I had completely ignored Jacob for the rest of the day.  Speaking of Jacob I forgot I told him to come to my house after school.  After a minute of thinking I realized maybe Jacob would forget but knowing him he wouldn’t.  ‘Ugh”! I exclaimed after a few seconds I looked around the lot of cars to see a few people giving me weird looks.  Great that was twice in one day that I’ve embarrassed myself. 

After I looked around again and no one was staring at me I got in my car and started driving to my house.  When I got home Jacob was already there.  ‘Great’ I thought to myself ‘looks like it’s going to be a long night to’.
