When we arrive back at the police station, they take me into one of those interview rooms that havethe one-way glass. I sit down at the table, still handcuffed, and wait for someone to come in. Eventhough I can't see them, I know people are watching. Maggie's words are still echoing through myhead. Game over, Cole. I still can't quite comprehend how she managed to trick me like that. The door opens and the police chief, Office Steven Milder, enters. Yes, I know his name; I've seenhim on the news every night talking about my victims. He sits on a chair opposite me. He dumps a pileof files onto the table and looks up at me.
"Did you really think you could get away with this forever?" "I believe I don't have to answer any questions without a lawyer present?" I ask, swinging back onmy chair, smirking. "Fine," He sighs while running a hand through his hair. "Would you like a lawyer present?" I place myfeet up on the table, earning a glare from him. "No" I smirk. "But that's not the point, you should have asked." He clenches his hands into fists, tightenough that his knuckles went white. I could tell he was getting pissed off. "So Steven" I make sure toexaggerate his name. "Why am I here?" "You know very well why you're here." He says. I take my feet off the table and lean forward. "That's not what I fucking meant. How the hell did youfind me?"
This time he's the one smirking. "You didn't really think you were invisible, did you? We've beenfollowing you for about a year." When he sees the look on my face, he continues. "You were good, I'll giveyou that. We never had enough evidence to arrest you. Until now, that is." He looks back up at me."You're probably wondering how Maggie fits into this all, aren't you?" I nod my head. He stands up and walks to the door. "How about I let her tell you."
