"Why on earth would I help you?" She exclaims. "Because you love me?" I smirk. She glares at me and begins to turn away. "Wait, Maggie, stop. Look, I 'm not going to be able to survive jail. I mean, have you seen my face? No-one this good looking ever gets out jail scratch free." "You are such an arrogant bastard, you know that?" "I try, Maggie, I really try." "I am not going to help you escape, okay? You need to get that through your head" She takes a few steps closer to me. "Sending killers to jail is my job. You aren't the first one to beg-" I thought of pointing out that I wasn't begging, but decided to hold my tongue instead. "-me to help them and I'm sure you won't be the last." She pauses to run a hand through her hair. "You might think you're some special exception, but really, you're no better than the rest of them." "So that's it? I mean absolutely nothing to you?" She sighs and turns to walk out. "What about that kiss?" Her step falters a little. "That had to mean something." She looks back at me and opens her mouth a little as if to say something. Obviously changing her mind, she turns and walks out.

"Cole get your ass up now." One of the officers that work for Steven pulled me up from the ground. I jerk out of his grasp and dust myself off. "I'm awake. I'm awake." I grumble. "I hope you're ready," The officer says. "You're going to court." "What?" I exclaim. "Today? As in right now?" He nods. I internally groan. Why didn't I take up Steven on his offer for a lawyer? Oh, that's right, I let my confidence get the better of me. Here's hoping I can think of enough bullshit to get me through. Otherwise, I'm screwed.

Ha, who am I kidding? I'm already screwed.
