Brennan smiled brightly. She was so excited to have her son back. All she could think about Jaime. They were literally in DC when she felt it. She felt a thick liquid, thicker than water, trickle down her thigh and into the fabric of her pants.

She knew it was blood.

"Booth, take me to the hospital," Brennan said, bawling her eyes out.

"What? Why?"

"I'm starting my period," she sobbed.

She knew she had lost the baby and that the baby was long gone. It really hurt Brennan emotionally. When they got to the hospital, Rebecca was in the waiting room with Parker.

Parker went to approach Brennan when he saw her crying.

"Bones?" he said sweetly.

"Booth, what's going on?" Rebecca asked.

"Bones is having a miscarriage," Booth said, his voice cold and distant.

Brennan and Booth were soon escorted to a room in which a doctor told them that the baby was gone. When the doctor left to room, Booth said to Brennan, "We can always try again. Mayb-"

"No. We can't," Brennan said, her voice colder than usual.

"Bones-"

"Booth, we are done. You've caused me too much pain. I'm done. I can't be with you. We can still be fr-"

"Friends. Got it," Booth said. Brennan could tell he was angry, but she can only give him so many chances.

She couldn't look at him. She held her face in her hands and sobbed.

Soon, Booth and Brennan were allowed to go see Jaime, but Brennan went alone.

She walked into the room and saw her son in a hospital gown. He had a black eye. That was enough to make Brennan cry.

Jaime heard her and turned to look at her. She looked so familiar. Then it hit him.

"Momma?" he asked softly.

Brennan smiled and nodded as she walked over and hugged her son.

Meanwhile, Booth had left the hospital. In a blind rage, he just drove. Drove as far away from everyone and everything. He didn't want to live near Bones anymore. He couldn't. She was right, he'd just hurt her, the way his dad hurt his mom.

In DC, Brennan and Jaime were soon able to leave. Angela, Rebecca, and Parker had already gone home. Brennan took this time to bond with Jaime more, so she took him out for ice cream.

"Hey, Mom?" Jaime asked.

"Yeah?"

"Where's Dad?"

Brennan felt her eyes beginning to water. She cleared her throat, trying to hold back tears as she said, "Honey, your father is the reason you were taken away. He did bad things so bad men took you and your father knew it."

Jaime let that sink in for a moment. He always thought that fathers were supposed to protect their sons and daughters and wives, so why didn't he?

Jaime soon began to cry. Brennan automatically reacted by hugging her son and she said, "It's alright, baby. Mommy's got you. I'll never let anyone ever hurt you again."
