{Clary's POV}

"Maia!" I squeak "I know it's almost the holidays but can you calm down." She's physically wriggling in her seat with anticipation and excitement

"I can't help it!" She whispers so as to not draw too much attention to herself "This is the best idea we've ever had." I beg to differ to be honest, if the best idea we've ever had is to sleep in a field for five nights then we really need to start reevaluating our lives.

"Is Alec going?" She stops wriggling, over the last few days mentioning Alec or his late 'Boyfriend' was a touchy subject, I nod anyway.

"And Isabelle, it was her idea."

"Who else?" I think about it and list them off on my fingers

"Me, you, Jordan, Isabelle, Alec, and Jace." She counts with her fingers too.

"No Magnus?" She asks me and I don't take my eyes off the whiteboard "No, Isabelle thought it might be better if he wasn't invited." Maia doesn't say anything after that because she knows, we both do that Isabelle is probably right for Alec's sake but Magnus hasn't done anything wrong and now, he was excluded from group events purely because of Alec's relation to Isabelle and Jace.

"If you ask me," Aline speaks up from in front of us but neither her nor kaelie turn to face us "he got what was coming to him."

For a second I think I've heard her wrong but based on maias reaction my hearing was perfectly fine.

"What?" Maia leans forward in her chair and Aline chooses this moment to face us, kaelie faces the board.

"You can't just steal someone's boyfriend from them, that's just plain wrong." She looks at me as she says it and I see kaelies shoulders shake in what I know is laughter, both of them are amused by the attack on Alec. The attack that has left half his face and ribs bruised.

I stare directly at the back of kaelies stupidly blonde head and think about how truly idiotic and immature she is.

"Nobody can steal anyone off you, if they left then they wanted to." I snap and watch Kaelie twitch slightly like she's preparing to move
"Now if the two of you are done being pathetic then Maia and I would like to continue with our conversation."

This time her head shoots round and she scoffs at me like she can't help herself
"You're one to talk about being pathetic."

"What's that supposed to mean?" I ask her expecting some bullshit about my break up with William.

"Oh!" Her voice goes up "Jace and I have sex so now I'm the best thing since sliced bread!" Suddenly the class goes quiet, our teacher, Mrs Penhallow is eyeing Aline then Kaelie but says nothing. I'm cold all over.

Everyone can hear her

"Get over yourself Clary and join the club, Your boyfriend has slept with half this school which is exactly why you can't handle him." Aline sniggers regardless of her moms eyes on her

Mrs Penhallow slaps her hand on the desk in an attempt to get everyone's attention again, muttering something about inappropriate conversations.
