Love makes us such fools.

- The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender

(Again, not edited. Soz for the typos.)

{Clarys POV}

Sometimes, at moments like this one I really hate being a girl.

I was currently lying half under a pile of skimpy clothes that Isabelle insisted I try on for the party tonight, all of which were black as she had also insisted that we all match for whatever reason.

I could hear her on the bathroom tiles from her bed as she was already fully dressed in a tight black top and skinny jeans with the biggest heals I had ever seen to match.
Everything was dark about Isabelle this evening apart from her porcelain skin and her bright personality, basically she looked incredible. I could see why my brother had noticed her.

"Clary," she calls through to me, her voice ringing like a bell "are you changed yet?"

I pout down at the clothes in my lap, thankfully izzy had already taken the liberty of doing my make up, charcoal eyeshadow and pitch black wings with a plum matte lipstick. I too looked rather nice actually, thanks to izzy.

I pick up my favourite of all the items which is a simple black dress I had saw izzy wear before, she had looked great in it because it hugged every single one of her curves. On me that might be a different story, I was probably going to look like a carrot wrapped in black clingfilm.

Isabelle throws her hands up in the air and let's them slap against her thighs in distress when she sees me

"Come on clary! We're already running a bit late." I just nod, agreeing with her and slip the dress up over my feet and underwear.

"So Alec," I begin as the silence in the car is killing me. Jace hasn't spoken since I walked out of Isabelle's bedroom and izzy has been too busy on her phone the entire car journey. Looks like it was up to Alec and I.

"Hm?" He doesn't take his eyes off the road for a second, never does. Alec is responsible that way. He doesn't drink either which is why he's our designated driver, I feel he only really goes to these things because a certain someone he knows is a total party animal.

"Is Magnus going tonight?" I ask him and I see his shoulders tense infront of me. Jace turns to look at me now but still doesn't say anything so I focus my eyes on the back of Alec's head.

"How should I know?" He snaps at me a little and I flinch.

"It's just a question Alec." Jace pipes up for the first time in half an hour.

"Yeah well how and why would I know the answer to it?"

I should just keep quiet for the rest of my life, honestly.

Stupid, stupid clary.

"I dunno maybe she was just making conversation." He folds one of his long legs over the other, he's probably not used to being in or on the back of a vehicle.

"Well next time just talk about the weather."

Good lord get me out of this car.

Suddenly the car stops and Jace jumps out before anyone else, seems the Lord heard my prayer.

Hallelujah.

My car door opens and I exit with everyone else rushing to get inside the already pulsating house.
