We've got Briarfur, the first place winner of Pictorial, with us for an Art Interview! Read on to find out her thoughts and history.
1. How long have you been an artist?
I guess I'd say I've been an artist for about two years, mainly due to the fact that back when I started writing, I'd draw little illustrations for my stories as well.
2. How long since you have been drawing Warriors?
Only for about six to eleven months.
3. What do you focus on in your art?
Expression, it's what I basically build my drawings off of, be it a scrunched up nose and a glare, or just a happy grin.
4. Do you prefer drawing canon characters, non-canon, or a mix?
I prefer drawing canon characters.
5. Do you have any specific inspirations when you draw?
Nature and mood. If it's a sunny day and I'm feeling happy, I'll draw a happy character, if it's more of a cloudy day, or if I'm feeling not as happy, I'll draw a sad character or something just hangry Brokenstar to boost my morale.
6. Are there any tips you would like to give to aspiring artists?
Yeah, I guess my tip would be just to be true to your stle, because it's YOUR style. I mean sure, as you improve it WILL chance in little ways, but don't change your style because it looks like someone else's or because you like another person's style better. It's YOUR style. It's how YOU draw. Why change such a beautiful thing as that?
