Dawnkit sat trembling. She listened closely to what her mother was saying. Last night, Dawnkit couln't walk and kept, and she was sent to the medicine den, where Cherrysong, had examined her. "I'm sorry Sparrowfeather. I tried worked everything. Nothing worked!" Cherrysong explained.

Dawnkit crept closer to where the she-cats where supposedly "talking." It sounded more like arguing to her. "What do you mean, you triedeverything! You should be ashamed!" Sparrowfeather spat, fur bristling.

Dawnkit stepped on a twig, making it snap. Cherrysong and Sparrowfeather whipped their head to her. "Dawnkit, I told you that you can't be in this!" Sparrowfeather meowed, licking Dawnkit's fur.

"Mom! Stop it!" She yowled. Sparrowfeather took a step back, shocked. "I know something's wrong with me! You don't have to hide it from me!"

Dawnkit started trembling uncontrollably again, wishing she was normal. "I know you're scared but-"

"Don't say anything else! You're going to fall from the dizzyness again!" Sparrowfeather yelled, carrying her back into the nursery.

Sparrowfeather began licking her thoroughly, with a steady rhythm. Dawnkit began to feel drowsy. But she could not shake the feeling of dread of her. Slowly, she began to close her eyes and drifted off to sleep.

Dawnkit opened her eyes. She gasped in wonder. "Wow!"

She wasn't in camp anymore, but in a forest, filled with prey! She pranced around, enjoying the sunlight. Wait, she thought. "I'm not limping..." She
looked around. This can't be happening, she thought.

She knew this could not be real. Too much prey was here and her trembling and limping was gone! Could she possibly be... dead? Dawnkit panicked, looking around for a way to escape this paradise. "I want to go home!" she wailed.

"Hush little one, you're safe,"

Dawnkit looked around. She saw a handsome ginger tom behind her. "Am I dead?" she demanded.
The tom snorted, amused. "No, you have a long way to go, young one. You will stay strong Dawnkit," he meowed to her. "But be warned, Dawnkit. You may become more healthier, but you will have a different path then others."

Dawnkit was confused and had so many questions. Why was she here then? How did he know her name? Was she there just so that the warrior could say that she was going to be fine? When she was about to ask, he started to fade, as a fog surrounded them. "Wait! Who are you? When will I be normal?" She cried.

But he was gone. She looked down at her paws. She was disappearing too. "Help!" Dawnkit screamed, but as she said that, the world began to fade.

Dawnkit woke up suddenly. She had never felt so scared before. The tom promised that she would survive, but how could he predict the future? Only StarClan warriors could do that! She sat up in the nest. Sparrowfeather was still sleeping, so she snuck out of the den. She walked limply to the medicine cat den.

Cherrysong was still sleeping too. Dawnkit nudged Cherrysong, making her wake up. Cherrysong stretched her legs. "What is it this time?" Cherrysong snapped.

Dawnkit jumped back. "I-it's me, D-dawnkit!" she stammered.

"Well, you woke me up. Now tell me what you want, already."

Dawnkit thought carefully of what she was going to say. "I, had this dream, about being in a forest," she began. The medicine cat perked her ears with interest. "Go on, Dawnkit," Cherrysong meowed. Dawnkit nodded. "I was dreaming about a tom, telling me that I was going to get better, but I would have to follow a different path. And then, he started to fade," Dawnkit finished.

Cherrysong twitched her whiskers thoughtfully. "I think, what he's trying to say, is that," Cherrysong looked at her nervously. "You have to become a medicine cat."

Dawnkit stared at Cherrysong. "Are you crazy?" Dawnkit meowed, shocked. "I've wanted to be a warrior ever since I even knew what that was! How do you expect me to cope being an apprentice of a medicine cat!"

Dawnkit ran out of the den. After a while, she collapsed. She just couln't handle it anymore. She was going to stay just the same as before. The warrior had promised her only a lie. She stood up and started padded towards twolegplace.

She had heard stories of twolegs capturing cats and clan cats deciding to become a kittypet. Dawnkit had thought it was fascinating, but when she asked more about it from the elders, they had just said that was all she needed to know. "This is the right choice," she whispered to herself.

She did not want to be a burden any longer. Dawnkit didn't want to be a medicine cat either. She knew that she was bad at remembering leaves, and really, anything else. Soon, she had reached twolegplace.

Dawnkit boldly went in front of one of the dens and began meowing pitifully. A few seconds later, a twoleg opened a clear looking thing. When the twoleg saw her, she rushed outside. Dawnkit began purring loudly around the twoleg.

The twoleg made a yowling sound and her mate came outside, with their kit. The kit picked her up gently. Dawnkit struggled not to squirm and panic as the twolegs put her inside the den. She looked up at the sky. Dawnkit gasped in wonder.

There was no sky! There were also big cushions, that were solf and comfy. The colorful pelts were also as soft as moss. No, even better! Dawnkit meowed happily, as she settled in her new home.

Fluffy layed on one of the pillows, as her kits squirmed, reaching for the milk. She fondly looked at them happily, but with a pang, she remembered Sparrowstorm, Cherrysong, and all her clanmates. She had left for a good reason, but she could still feel the guilt of leaving all she knew, for a new life. But this is the path I choose, StarClan, she thought.
