Since the accident:
6 months 0 days
June 7th, 2010It had been about three months since Ryan had met Cassandra. He decided that today he would go and check up on her.
It was early Saturday afternoon. The sun was shining brightly in the sky as he walked, hands in the pockets of his cargo shorts.
Girls watched his as he walked by but he ignored them by looking straight ahead, not noticing or fidgeting with his baseball cap that covered his curls.
He wanted to go on a walk with Cassandra today and he wanted to show her that he was there to help her.
Today was the six month anniversary of her boyfriends death. He thought that in order to continue her healing he should get her out of her dark and gloomy apartment.
She was getting better. She was definitely making progress and starting to get passed what happened. But he knew how hard anniversaries of each year or the first six months could be to a person.
He walked into the building, signing in as a guest with the receptionist before beginning the process of heading up to her apartment.
He always found it stupid the way you had to sign in if you were not with a resident, but that's how the building handled security. The only good thing was that now he had been here so much that the man behind the counter didn't ask him for his ID anymore every time he signed in and trusted him to sign in and out without much question.
It's still a pain he thought as he let out a sigh before pressing the button for the elevator.
He rocked back and forth slightly in his sneakers as he waited. The elevator seemed to take forever before a ding finally sounded in the lobby and the doors glided open for the young Officer.
Ryan Blake turned and tipped his hat slightly to the young man named Tyler behind the counter before stepping into the metal box and clicking the third floor button.
When the doors opened he slowly made his way to the girls apartment door. He knocked lightly, hitting his enclosed fist against it and waited.
The girls eyes opened slowly, feeling like she was being forced to by the person playing with her hair.
It took her a moment but Cassandra Williams was finally able to get her eyes to open but they still had to squint against the harsh light of their shared bedroom.
Bryan Turners laughed as he watch the girl. Cassandra closed her eyes and rolled back over. "Bryan let me sleep." The girl mumbled as she pulled the blanket up to her chin and cuddled herself deeper into the warmth of the fabric.
"Come on Cass, it's time to get up." Bryan cooed as he wrapped his arms around her waist and tried to pull her closer.
The girl squeaked as she was lifted up and tried to wriggle from the boys arms but couldn't. He laughed as she attempted to get away from him.
"If I let you go then you will go back to sleep!" He exclaimed.
"Bryan I swear I will put NyQuil in your coffee so you'll let me sleep in to at least eight for once!" She exclaimed as she finally got away and grabbed the blankets. She rolled herself up in them, making it harder for Bryan to get her out of bed.
