You shifted the box in your hands around a little before stepping into the precinct to the SVU. You looked around and saw people running around, working at desks, and a group huddled around a table and a few whiteboards. "Can I help you?" You looked to you me left and saw a man a few years older than you standing there with a cup of coffee in his hands. "Umm yeah, I'm (Y/N) (Y/L/N). I'm the transfer from Jersey Sargent Benson requested." You said softly. He looked you up and down before giving you a smile. "Right, follow me then." You followed him to the group of detectives standing around the table. "Liv, this is the transfer you wanted." He said before walking to the other side of the table. "Ah, Detective (Y/L/N) it's nice to meet you. I'm glad you decided to join us." You gave her a small smile, not liking all the attention on you. "Please call me (Y/N) and it's a real pleasure to get called up here. I've heard of your work and I can't wait to do what I can to help out." You said. "So you've already met your partner Mike Dodds, this is Nick Amaro, Amanda Rollins, Sonny Carisi, and Fin Tutuola." You shook everybody's hand. "You got here just in time. We got a call this morning; a young girl was found on the shore of the Hudson. Her feet were tied together and the coroner's report says she was killed before being thrown in the river." You stared down at the pictures. "What's that on her neck?" You asked as you picked up one of the pictures. Mike grabbed it from your hand and stared at it. "I don't see anything." You quickly took it back and took a sharpie off the table. "This." You said as you circled a portion of her neck. Sonny took the picture. "Well I'll be... I can't believe we missed this. I can't believe the coroner missed this. Sarg, look." Liv took it and put her glasses on. "They look like bite marks." Everyone looked at you and you shrugged. "This changes everything. Fin, Rollins go back to the house and ask her parents if they know anything. If not, ask the friends. Nick, Sonny look through her file. I want to know anything and everything about this girl's life. Mike, show (Y/N) to her desk please." Everybody scrambled and you felt a smile grow on your face. "Welcome to the team." Fin said before leaving the precinct. "You coming or not?" You quickly grabbed your box and followed after Mike. He pointed to an empty box and sat down at the one across from you. "So what's your deal?" You stopped unpacking and looked at him. "Excuse me?" He leaned back in his chair and stared at you. "Liv doesn't request specific people for her team so you've got to have done something to spark her interest." "I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about. All I know is I walked into work one day and my captain pulled me into his office, said I was being transferred to Manhattan per request, and I was shipped off 4 days later." You put the last picture on your desk before sitting down. "What a minute, you're that detective that's supposed to solve everything. A buddy of mine told me about you; said you never missed a detail and that's how you can solve anything." You rolled your eyes. "So what, I'm observant." He chuckled a little. "I like you already." You felt your stomach do flips. This was not good; there was no way you could have feelings for your partner. "Thanks?" He chuckled. "You should be more confident in yourself. You're a beautiful and incredibly smart woman." You looked over at him and saw how the tips of his ears turned to a shade of red, how he was fidgeting with his hands, and the slight dimple that appeared on his right side when he smiled. "Are you flirting with me?" He laughed. "Only if it worked and you'll go grab a drink with me later?" Everything in your mind was saying no, but you had the overwhelming sense to say yes. "Only if you're buying." He smiled. "Of course. What kind of gentleman would I be if I didn't?" You laughed and gave him a smile. "Not a very good one." For the rest of the day, you both talked about yourselves; you felt more at home after talking with him and that was something you never thought you would feel for a few more weeks. "Let's go get those drinks." Mike said and you quickly stood up and put your jacket on. He opened the door for you and you thanked him. When you got to the bar, you both ordered your drinks and continued to talk about anything and everything. You looked down at your watch and saw it was already 11. "I should probably get going." You said as you stood up. He quickly stood up and helped you put your jacket on before escorting you home. "Well, this is my stop." You said as you stared up and your apartment building. "Hey (Y/N), I had a really nice time today." "I did as well." You both seemed to get lost in each other's eyes. You cleared your throat and looked away. "I'll see you tomorrow, Mike." He gave you a quick kiss on your cheek before walking down the stairs. "See you tomorrow bright and early, partner!" He said before walking down the street. You stared at him as he walked farther away before a smile grew on your face. "Well played, Mike. Well played." You whispered before walking inside, excited to go to work the next morning.
