"Tell me..." she began, hands clasped together, sitting back in her swivel chair inside her office at the main building of Davis Holdings.

She was in a meeting with two other stockholders of her father's company, men whose loyalty wavered in the middle. Gabrielle had to move discreetly and strategically if she wanted Kane and the rest of his allies behind bars for what they had done to Vincent—and for what they still intended to do to her.

"Would you rather risk your own lives and futures, betting everything on their side, or would you give me a hand to take the company to a higher level while securing your freedom?" She glanced at the two men as they exchanged uneasy looks.

"It isn't a secret that I now have my full inheritance, having given birth to my daughter and remaining married to Vincent..." She lifted her hand to her ring finger, where her diamond-studded engagement ring and elegant wedding band rested.

The elder of the two gentlemen, Mr Reid, who held 15% of Davis Holdings, cleared his throat, eyes falling on her rings. He sighed heavily.

"I know all of you believed that Vincent and I had been divorced for nearly three years... and that's precisely why you sided with Kane, who planned my husband's death to acquire every pound and share you could funnel into your own accounts, correct?" Her voice trembled with anger and bitterness as she leaned back in her chair.

"Too bad... none of the rumours were true. While it's true Vincent assumed the position of President in my absence, it was a cunning move to protect our daughter from the venomous snakes within the company..."

"Ms Davis... Mrs Walton," he corrected himself.

"You cannot simply point fingers and accuse us of treason. I have never involved myself in alliances that exploit people's love for money..."

"Have you not... really?" Gabrielle narrowed her eyes at him. She noticed the other man nervously wiping his sweaty forehead, looking away. She knew well enough that while they had not formally allied with Kane, they had often given him favourable votes in the past, silently benefiting from bribes. She could no longer risk having such men as allies; she needed them out—and she needed their shares.

"Mr Reid, Mr Richard... you might already understand why I am speaking to you. It isn't just to ask for your loyalty—I need your shares. Just name your price."

"Aren't you being overconfident, Mrs Walton? We had nothing to do with what happened to Mr Walton... there's no point threatening us like this..."

"The truck that collided with my husband's car? That's been 'taken care of.' The driver didn't even suffer a scratch, while Vince was left comatose..."

"What has that got to do with anything?!" Mr Reid exclaimed.

"Mr Richard... how is your son-in-law's courier company? I hear you're delivering nationwide now? And Mr Reid, out of friendship, you decided to be one of the financiers of your son-in-law's courier company, along with Mr Kane..."

Her knowledge of their private dealings silenced them. She reached for an envelope beneath her desk, teeth clenched, and handed them both the photos inside: images of the wrecked Vincent's car and the courier vehicle.

"I have no idea what this is! This is a frame-up!" Mr Reid shouted, glaring at Mr Richard, who was now drenched in sweat.

Gabrielle stood, turning to face the window.

"Isn't it a lovely day in London? Imagine never seeing the sun again if you continue your schemes behind bars..." She turned her gaze to them, calm but deadly serious.

"Sell your shares to me and have enough cash to defend yourselves in court..."

"It was all Kane's plan! We had nothing to do with this! Even that driver isn't part of my son-in-law's business!"
