The Unfinished Case// A Sherlock Story

XXII

Max makes her way to the location of S.K.U.L.L Industries. Her palms begin to sweat and her body radiates fear and anticipation.

'Wipe. Erase. Leave. Explode.' She chants in her head as she makes her way to the back of the building. She kicks down the back entrance and goes guns blazing. She had nothing to loose no more so what's the point going in subtly?

Multiple guards come rushing into the back entrance and begin firing at her. She skillfully dodges some by calculating the speed and angle of each gun being fired before she shoots back. The bullets going through the opponents head dead center. The fight goes on for a while before she runs out of amo and had to go in hand combat.

She slides between the feet of one attacker before she turns sticking her leg out, knocking her victim to the ground. She throws a few knives poisoned with a very old Russian poison that neutralizes her enemies as they sink into their skin. Her muscles scream as she continues to punch and kick at her opponents.

She stands victorious as each person either lays unconscious or dead at her feet. Quickly she makes her way to the control room on the third floor and begins hacking into the server in order shut them down.

A video pops up.

The video pops up.

Moriarty.

"Well, well, well. Look what we have here, a rogue soldier. How ya doing there Max?" His intimidating voice echoes through the silent building.

"If you're polite and ask me how I'm feeling then I quite can't say the same. I'm dead," he laughs at his own twisted humour.

"Now don't be so serious. We seem to have an issue here. I'm still trying to take over the world and one of my old employees is trying to stop me. Ring any bells?" He asks rhetorically as his eyes stare straight into hers.

"God how I hate your annoying ass kermit voice," Max sighs as she waits for the video to continue.

"By now you have probably already killed my horsemen. Which is cool because they were all useless anyways..." he says rolling his eyes.

"But I can't let you shut down my initiative. The world is going to remember my name whether or not you are there to lead my army."

"Here's the twist though. If you don't do as I say, you die. If you try to shut down my project, you die. IF YOU try to do anything cheeky... you DIE. Choose your destiny." He states with a wicked grin.

"The clock is ticking. Tick. Tock. Tick-" Max shuts down the video before his annoying voice could continue anymore.

"Might as well die a hero," Max says out loud as she continues to break into the firewalls.

"BOOM!" Moriarty's voice rings through the speakers as an explosion can be heard.

"Fuck, me," Max continues as the ground beneath her begins to shake and the temperature begins to rise.

"BOOOM!" Another explosion startles the building as the floor above her begins to crack.

Max sticks a USB with a virus that will wipe out the whole entire empire he had created, hoping that it will work fast enough.

"I always thought your stupidity would be the death of you one day," his voice chimes from the speakers.

"You would have made an excellent queen," was the last thing he said before the fire forcefully invades the room, licking anything in its path.

Max sits down on the ground and leans into the computer. Tears stream down her cheeks as the building continues to fall apart just like her. She can feel her throat become more raspy as she inhales the toxic fumes and her body more intoxicated by the heat of the flames.

It was time.
